"Highly intelligent two-way defenseman. Reads the game extremely well and has great mobility. Stops several rushes prematurely and often guides his teammates on the ice. Plandowski loves to jump up on the rush and to support the offense. Aggressive and intense; he pinches a whole lot, for better or for worse."

I think he projects to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick this year.

Here's a quick game report on his performance on November 6th 2020 :

Plandowski is a smooth skating, puck-moving defensemen who remarkably combined an eagerness to join the offence with sounded defensive play. The right-handed rearguard understood the importance of defence, showcasing a steady positioning in his own zone, a presence of mind to read developing plays and great compete along the boards. Plandowski showed to be an aggressive defender who didn’t hesitate to step up to neutralize breakouts or cut attackers before they could make a move. He was extremely confident in his defensive capabilities throughout all defensive situations. The Canadian prospects exhibited fantastic rush defence, flashing near perfect gap control, thanks to his terrific mobility, and an active stick. Although he could fill-up his frame more, he was willing to use physicality to block opponents from entering the zone. His attention to details allowed him to disturb countless transitions, and helped his team get back on the offence very quickly. Plandowski showcased tremendous 4-way mobility to escape pressure on the breakout, and he displayed the ability to move the puck ahead with simple, yet effective outlets. He rarely rushed up the ice as the puck-carrier, preferring to support the transition as an off-puck threat. Plandowski thoroughly enjoyed joining counterattacks and pressuring the opposition as the odd man in rush situations. His incredibly smooth, powerful stride and splendid agility allowed his offensive instincts to shine as he weaved through lanes effortlessly following the attack. Whether it be in transition or on the cycle, the 2021 eligible loved converting the attack to high-danger areas. He often left his position to become a scoring option near the crease. Plandowski displayed below average goalscoring abilities, and although I don’t put much value in defensemen’s shooting, I would like to see him improve this very aspect. As involved in the counterattack as he is, developing some shooting accuracy or finishing skills could become very profitable. Combining his defensive pride with his excellent mobility and instincts, Plandowski is a prototypical new age defensemen with top 4 upside who will get a lot of attention in the upcoming draft. Could be a great bet for the middle rounds, probably earlier than later.

He comes from a hockey family as well, his mom is a well known skating coach and his dad just became the Coyotes director of scouting after many years as the lighting Head amateur scout.

Drafted in the first round, 18th overall, by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft, Oscar Plandowski never played a game for his new team. Before the pre-season even began he was traded to the Charlottetown Islanders for future first and second-round picks. Plandowski had a decent rookie season with the Islanders, putting up 12 assists in 60 games. The Halifax, Nova Scotia-born Plandowski also represented Team Canada White at the Under 17 World Hockey Challenge where he put up four points in six tournament games.

Despite the stop-start nature of this QMJHL campaign, Plandowski was even better this season. He scored five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 39 games. Plandowski added a goal and an assist in eight playoff games. Plandowski comes from a hockey family. His father Darryl Plandowski was a long-time scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning and is currently the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Arizona Coyotes. Older brother Michael Plandowski plays Junior A hockey in Nova Scotia. His younger brother Jack Plandowski was recently drafted by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the 2021 QMJHL Draft. His cousin, Freddie Halyk is playing goalie for an Alberta Junior team.
