(APC) - The Flyers have announced that LW Ray Whitney may be moved in order to free up some cap space for next year. The Flyers need to receive a LW in return who could play this year on their second line and of course is making less than Ray Whitney. "We know we won't get an even return as far as skill and productivity goes but we're not giving him away either. Ray is having an outstanding year. People worry about Ray's age but he's a 1st line player who's ratings could increase next year."

Any team trading for Whitney won't have to worry about resigning him as he has a four year contract for about $4million a year, not overly expensive for a 79OV player who has an 80PA, 90ST and 76PC including some other high ratings(see below).

If the right deal comes along its expected that the Flyers may even package their 1st round pick or one of their defensive prospects in order to get a more established LW who is signed longer term at a lower salary or a player who is a younger but has good potential.
