I haven't heard to much about him. I've seen him play only a few times in the WHL. I know he is pretty fast for a defenceman and has pretty good offensive skills. How about his defence and do you think he will make the NHL and if so what kind of impact do you think he will have?

He's a great skater, has great hands, sees the ice well, moves the puck well, but the knock on him is that he's soft. And for being a vet he's not exactly the leader that you would think he should be. He did moved back and forth from D to Forward and this did not help him.

Here are his stats:

Player Stats
Regular Season Stats
Season Team GP G A PTS +/- PIM
2002-03 WHL Season Kamloops Blazers 4 0 0 0 0 0
2003-2004 WHL Season Kamloops Blazers 69 12 17 29 3 14
2004-05 WHL Season Kamloops Blazers 69 12 35 47 -16 18
2005-06 WHL Season Kamloops Blazers 67 11 26 37 0 34

Playoff Stats
Season Team GP G A PTS +/- PIM
2003 WHL Playoffs Kamloops Blazers 2 0 0 0 0 0
2004 WHL Playoffs Kamloops Blazers 5 2 0 2 -6 0
2005 WHL Playoffs Kamloops Blazers 2 0 0 0 -1 0

Tough question since Kamloops has really struggled with consistency this year. I think if you move Macias on to a team like the Giants with their solid D corp his defensive play picks up. His +/- rating has been poor to date but that may be because of Kamloops overall play. I truly hope he moves on and with the right team and coaching he has a very good shot. A lot of individual success depends on how well a team does.
