FBK ended up losing yesterday's game 1-0. Today, they defeated Norway 4-3, with Asplund centering the second line between Marcus Nilsson and Oskar Steen. His contribution to the game summary was a slashing penalty and FBK scored a SHG while it was served and killed, so no harm done. Again, no points to mention. Next game for FBK is a CHL tilt on Aug 19th in Poland.

Asplund ranked 101st in Pronmans Top 120 prospects.

Thought that was a tad low vs where some other comparables fell, Rubtsov 36, Eriksson Ek 49, Holmstrom 78

I listened to Pronman on a Toronto radio station. He gushed over every Leaf prospect. When asked if there was a player who might not be so good he seemed taken aback.. If the Leafs drafted or traded for him then he was an A.

The leafs do have a lot of good prospects in his defense.

Rasmus Asplund (3gp 1-0-1) and Farjestad set to go - needing one point to advance to Champions League KO round as Group O winners.

Asplund picks up an assist as FBK goes up 2-0 early in the 2nd.

Asplund enters zone down left side with speed, makes nice back pass for shot->rebound->goal. Second assist of the game for Asplund.

Period was being played at major-junior pace before Asplund took puck in neutral zone and galloped in to set up the play. FBK up 5-0 in 3rd.

Asplund gets his third assist of the game as Farjestad converts a nice passing play for a PPG. 6-0.

Asplund out for another PP. Glides behind net, makes a nice backhand wraparound pass to the front and just misses getting fourth helper.

Asplund finishes with three assists and four shots on goal as Farjestad smokes Comarch Cracovia 7-0.

SHL - Regular season under way for Victor Olofsson and Frolunda. Rasmus Asplund and Farjestad get going at the top of the hour.

Asplund has his first point of the SHL season, an assist, as FBK is tied 1-1 with ÖHK in the 2nd.

Olofsson (11:55 TOI) contributes two shots on goal as Frölunda falls to Malmö 3-2 in their SHL opener.

Asplund looking sharp. Confident with puck, finding space, good D support. Will probably top out 17+mins TOI - hit that just 3x last year.

Asplund working left wall on first PP unit but nada for FBK. Remains 1-1 game with 6:00 to go.

Asplund (16:00 TOI, 57% faceoffs) picks up one assist as Färjestad gets a late PPG to defeat Örebro 2-1.

Asplund with 4:13 of work thus far today through one period as Färjestad trails Linköping 1-0.

Asplund one shot on goal in the opening period - it was another example of his ability to get into space for a quality look at the net.

Asplund -13:36 TOI - scores the overtime winner as Färjestad earns a 4-3 victory over Linköping.

@SabresProspects - Video-Asplund Snipes Game Winner - http://www.sabresprospects.com/2016/09/weekend-rap-asplund-snipes-winner.html

Rasmus Asplund connected on a one-timer in overtime Sunday to thrust Farjestad BK to a 4-3 SHL victory over Linkoping HC. Exactly one minute into the extra session with each team down a man, Asplund drifted down the right circle to swipe a Joakim Nygard pass to complete the come-from-behind victory in front of a raucous home crowd. The marker was Asplund's first of the season, seventh of his SHL career and second-ever game-winner.

Rasmus Asplund takes the opening draw for Färjestad as they take on Victor Olofsson and Frölunda.

After being top PP option in MODO, Olofsson starting to see time on right wall on FHC #2 unit. Just took a lane to net for good chance.

Nice 4v4 shift for Asplund. Skated to gain space, maintain possession. Raced to gather loose puck and reset. Has 1 of FBK's 2 hits early on.

Four Färjestad penalties in the first 12:06 certainly helping the penalty-killing portion of Asplund's development.

Man, Swedish hockey fans are the best. The crowd shots when the home team scores...incredible. Exact opposite of most of these NHL morgues.

Asplund controls loose puck, gets to boards, kicks it to point for second assist on the OT winner. Nice play. Färjestad downs Frölunda 2-1.

Asplund also earned a career-high 20:21 of work in the victory.

4 points in 6 games for Asplund.

Just based on his early production compared to last year, looks like he took some big strides.
