I’ve been saying it for years, Pastrnak is so overrated. Don’t get me wrong he’s a legit first liner but people act as if he’s some type of superstar. BM is the driver in Boston

I’m a fan of Boston and I watch their games a lot. Pastrnak is a really good player and he has moments when he’s just the top of the league in the offensive zone but you’re right. Anyone who watches even a few games will find that Marchand is the driver of that line. Often Pastrnak gets the honor but in reality Marchand is a MUCH more important player in that line. Pastrnak will certainly be closer to Marchand’s level in the future than it is now. At least I hope so.

Both capable of 40+ goals and 90+ points in a given year.

Both are on great lines where they’d be considered the second best player on said line.

Pastrnak a better goal scorer. Rantanen better defensively.

Close call. Can’t go wrong with either

Pasta having over 200 goals at the age of 25 would suggest you've been wrong for years.

Give me Rantanan on the Oil. Big player who can skate and play with great players. Idk about his defence but it can’t be too bad with what I’ve heard about him

Rantanen won't win any Selke votes, but his play disrupting pucks in the neutral zone and creating creative transition chance is some sort of "defense"

Active NHL Players - Goals per Game Leaders

Pastrnak is 6th among active players in goals per game

1- Alexander Ovechkin
2- Auston Matthews
3- Steven Stamkos
4- Connor McDavid
5- Sidney Crosby
6- David Pastrnak
7- Evgeni Malkin
8- Leon Draisaitl
9- Nikita Kucherov
10- John Tavares

Rantanen doesn't have 200 career goals yet but if he had, he would be about 12th on that list, tied with Brad Marchand

I think this poll is pretty damn close but without a tie option I'm taking Pastrnak

All due respect to Pastrnak, but I’ll take the guy who can run 56 km/h, is capable of feeding underwater for up to 50 seconds, and that has scored 40 goals in his last 67 games.

Pastrnak sucks with great players. That's the only knock I have on him. And he can't score goals.

Pasta is healthier and produces with arguably less talent IMO.

I didnt know Marchand and Bergeron were bad hockey-players? I kind of think they are a better combo than MacKinnon-Landeskog. Marchand tips the scale for me.
Ooh and Rantanen did even better when MacKinnon was injured.

Rantanen 22gp 12g 15a 27p +13

Mackinnon 15gp 3g 18a 21p -1

As you see the +/- is pretty telling they are not on the ice together all the time.
