Voted Game of Thrones, #2 is The Wire

If miniseries are included then Band of Brothers should've been in this one already. That's my #3.

Add "The Larry Sanders Show".

It wouldn't get my vote as "best", but it was brilliant in its day and deserves to be on the list.

The Ricky Gervais Show (amazing)
Real Time

The Pacific
Bored to Death

Not really sure where to put Band of Brothers either because it's almost like a documentary. These are just the one's I've seen. Everytime I try to watch Deadwood I just...don't? Idk.

I think Band of Brothers is the best thing HBO has ever done.

But this poll isn't fair to Game of Thrones since it's not over yet and could get even better depending on how they wrap it up.

Deadwood was great though, same with Boardwalk Empire.

Out of the shows i've seen,

Band of Brothers
Game of Thrones
Deadwood
The Sopranos/The Wire (hard to pick)
Boardwalk Empire
True Detective

John Adams
East Bound and Down
Mr Show

The Leftovers

Never saw Oz but hear it was good. Only saw the Wire once, have been meaning to go back and watch again. Never finished Vinyl, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be but might go back and finish it at some point. Treme is another that i heard was good but never saw. I tried to watch Six Feet under once but didn't care for it, perhaps will have to try again someday. Never saw Rome but if it's on the level of Spartacus I will have to check it out.

Also a big fan of Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Vice was good but stopped watching it after they interviewed that ******** Marty shkreli.

I feel there are very clear tiers here, at least in my opinion. Nothing before or since has touched SFU or The Wire on HBO. Hijacking Sharee's ranking system...

1a | Six Feet Under (5.0 Masterpiece)
1b | The Wire (5.0 Masterpiece)

3a | True Detective S1 (4.5 Flawless)
3b | Band Of Brothers (4.5 Flawless)

5a | Game Of Thrones (4.0 Great)
5b | The Sopranos (4.0 Great)

7a | Deadwood (3.0 Very Good)
7b | The Leftovers (3.0 Very Good)

Or worse. It cuts both ways. :p:

It also arguably has the advantage of being current and hyped up, without the benefit of hind-sight right now.

Ultimately, I think the potential biases tend to even themselves out. (If we did this RIGHT when it ended, I think it would have an unfair advantage, though, with completeness/freshness/hype/relevance/longevity all on its side-- alot like how Breaking Bad did when it ended)

I don’t like David Simon very much, but it seems many people do. Am put off by the politics of Maher and the faux progressivism of Oliver, although I did like the latter's first season.

None of the above for me. Too short a list.

This is for the #1 ranking though. Obviously personal taste differs, but I think you'd have a hard time making the argument that besides the omission of Band of Brothers perhaps as a replacement for Game of Thrones, there's anything that shouldn't be there if we're talking about the best HBO series.
