Ranking D-Men by value per dollar

Well obviously entry level contracts are usually going to top this list. Based only on players who have played in the NHL this year. For the Canucks, here's my order:

Hughes - by a mile A+
Juolevi - pleasant surprise B
Hamonic - great value not playing well B-
Chatfield - decent C+
Benn - playing better this year C+
Schmidt - Playing well but $6 M? C
Edler - okay but the years are adding up C-
Myers - decent productions but lots of warts D+

Just an aside, by ranking not taking salary into account.

Chatfield/Hamonic

Hamonic hasn't played much or in a while, harder to judge. Juolevi has a chance to be in our top 4 next year if he progresses.

[Lupuls Grit]

Chatfield a C+?! The guy in literally unplayable in the NHL. He could play for free but not be worth his contract in terms of value to this team. Myers has been inconsistent and is too expensive but he's played well with Juolevi for the most part and has logged some decent minutes. Without considering his cap impact, he has been either their 2nd or 3rd best defence man (or Schmidt).

If you're looking for the poorest value d-man it's Myers by a landslide.....And Edler has shown some signs of turning back the clock this season, but father time is taking its toll, so he comes in a solid #2 on this list.

I reckon if we sell at the TDL we might get something for Benn. Not sure about Hamonic, maybe a 6th if we retain. Otherwise I agree with the Pipsters list
