thats true, but i still think guys like mueller and backstrom will turn out to be better players in the long run. if everyone were to think that they havent played in the NHL yet chistov should be ahead of allmost everyone.

I think Chistov is already considered a bust. He just doesn't have the hockey sense to become a scoring threat in the NHL.

He's still only 24, but his upside now is probably nothing more than a 3rd line winger who posseses loads of skill and is good for the occasional highlight reel goal. He hit's like a truck for a little guy.

Kessel and Backstrom should be interchangeable 1-2 IMO.

That makes no sense, guessing at how a prospect will do in the NHL is pretty much scouting explained, just because players bust doesn't mean it shouldn't be attempted to be done, and just because Backstrom hasn't played in the NHL doesn't mean that its impossible for someone to believe he will become a better player than Wellwood, simply a matter of opinion, hence the reason scouting is such big business.

I realize that Wellwood gets underrated, but anyone can point at past busts and say projecting players' future's is impossible.

that depends on how you see things personally. either you do it like you do and rank the guys that has performed in the NHL on top. or like i do and try and predict who will be the best player in the long run. i dont think its plain wrong to rank backstrom and mueller ahead of wellwood if you truly believe they will be better NHL players.

because it clearly says who will be the best.. while wellwood might be in the top 5, if you think hes going to be any higher then that, (rank 5-7) then your kidding yourself... right now, guys like Backstrom, Kessel, Frolik, Okposo, Mueller, Brassard, all got the same if not better potential and are a lot younger. Sure its 50/50 that any of them will pan out, im sure one of those will bust, but granted in terms of potential, if they live up to the hype, they will all surpass wellwood

Just because someone has played in the NHL before someone else doesn't mean they'll put up better numbers. Be sides this is just opinion and projection.
