It's crazy how some of these prospects had legitimately good years, and are still falling b/c of all the depth we're adding

Sjalin is interesting. Two years ago I really liked his game. He was good defensively and just steady. His skating wasn't great and the offense never seemed to materialize the way you hoped, but he was still interesting. Last year, I don't know, he looked slower, more indecisive, didn't really make any progress in general. He was too young to write off completely but he quickly was pushed to the very periphery of my radar. The injuries were obviously troubling.

I haven't watched him at all this year so I don't know there's any reason for me to change my outlook on him as a player (as in, I don't know if his tools have improved at all). However, playing regular minutes in a substantial role in the SHL certainly warrants inclusion in the ranked portion of our poll.

I missed where we added Aaltonen, but I would not have done that, as he has been totally unimpressive to me. I would also probably take Sjalin ahead of Linbom, at this point.

I feel like Kjellberg is somewhat underrated here. 11 points in 32 games as a freshman d-man in the NCAA? Seems like a long-term project for sure but has some upside

I admit that he surprised me last season, and pleasantly so. He went 2+2 in his first two games and then 3-4-7 in his next 30. Which, honestly, 7 point would have been a good showing for him given the USHL season he had before. Curious to see how he does whenever he gets back, if he can take a step forward, or if he stagnates or regresses. Truthfully, when I watched him with Dubuque (I gave game reports), he had no notable skills even among his USHL peers. His skating wasn't good, his defense was unrefined, he didn't move the puck well, etc. So I'm not sure if last year was a mirage or not, but he surely deserves some credit.
