Thanks for doing this, @The Crypto Guy. This list looks great, in terms of system depth. There are a couple rankings I hate, but I won't bother to rehash that. There's nothing too egregious on there. ;)

I'm interested to see how the mid-season list looks. A guy like Ronning could shoot up or drop pretty precipitously; same for someone like Day. Meskanen and Lindqvist could make the the NHL team, could be excelling or struggling in Hartford, or could get loaned back home. Pajuniemi could be killing it in Liiga and jump 10 spots. Virta will hopefully perform well in the KHL and get some f***ing respect. And on, and on. Lots of opportunity for guys to jump or fall off a cliff.

Oh, also, you should throw the rest of the guys who didn't make the Honorable Mentions list up there as "Rangers Property" or however you want to phrase it, just so we can see we also still have those guys who are technically prospects.

looks good, thanks (CG and all) for the effort
IMHO Rykov, Lettieri, Barron a bit high,
Gettinger and Wall (off list) too low
but it sure is encouraging,
not (hopefully) like the StCroix/Noreau years when optimism had to crowd out rational doubt

I think the Mitch Brown data for Gross has really skewed how people perceive him as a prospect. It's only an 8 game sample size of data, and it doesn't report what games were tracked. Gross made the transition over from Switzerland to North America this season, so it's entirely possible that he was hindered while trying to make these adjustments. He had a really good WJC for the Swiss this year.

I'm not thrilled with the pick, and I would've preferred guys like Milos Roman, Philip Kurashev, or Jacob Pivonka. But, I do think he'll be an interesting prospect to follow over the next two years. He's a super aggressive defender with the puck on his stick, so I'm curious to see if he can improve his ability to play that rover role.

Younger, earlier in his career, more potential upside.

People who vote based on potential would go for Gross over those 2.

I took Sjalin over Gross, voting on potential. Sjalin is only 4 months older than Gross. So they're basically the same age and I think Sjalin had a much better season than Gross did.

I agree with you, but I assume a lot will see a 2018 draftee having a higher ceiling than a 2017 draftee if they are similar, merely because the 2018 draftee hasn't "failed to develop yet"

I think the Rangers still technically have Ronnie Sundin's rights.

The Mitch Brown data was a small sample set, but it was really bad and Gross's scoring productivity was really bad too. From a statistical perspective, I think the facts that the results in Brown's sample were so extreme and that they were supported by Gross's season-long scoring rates should offset the concerns about having a small sample size.

The odds of a 4th rounder making the NHL are pretty low, so I can understand the reasoning behind taking a guy who, even if he performed really poorly, has the tools, used to be highly ranked prospect, performed poorly under challenging circumstances, and reportedly improved over the course of the year, but the combination of how bad the Mitch Brown data was and the really low scoring rates is a real concern for me.

This is a really, really solid list of prospects. Especially compared to where we were two years ago. Man alive, this is a massive change.

I hope that we can move Zucc for another first, Hayes for another first (or extend him long-term), and then Tampa wins the Cup and we get another first.

12. Ronning
13. Georgiev
14. Barron

16. Meksanen
17. Lettieri
18. Ragnarsson
19. Virta
20. Bigras

24. Nieves
25. Fontaine
26. Lindbom
27. Huska
28. O Gara

I don’t care for NHL readiness. This is who I would keep in that order. (I don’t value goalies as much as skaters which is why Shesty is 4th) this board is wayyy to high on Hajek

I think Ronning cracks Top 10 next year, and not because of guys in front of him having down years

I think Ronning will surprise a lot of people. There's something about his game that just makes him different from other prospects. I can't put my finger on it.

I've said it before, but I am amazed by the large number of players in the organization with NHL-ties in the family.

It's a solid collection of prospects. I'll fully admit that there are several rankings I would change, but it's not an awful list for what it is --- a group project.

I've always found these lists to be fun and interesting, albeit not necessarily accurate.

Nice work Crypto.

Still think Shesty is our #1, followed by Chytil. Overall though there's not much to complain about. What a huge change from just a couple of years ago.

What a change form the past few seasons, great depth up to 15 and then we still have a few potential diamonds in the rough later on. Plus the really young guys who could be risers on future lists Keane, Ragnarsson, Pajuniemi.

I'm really interested to see Hajek, Howden, Lindgren, Day and Meksanen turning pro. What steps Chytil and Andresson can take. Less interested in Gettinger and Ronning but they are still good depth. It will be another green team down in Hartford though with much more talent and decent AHL vets in Holland, Schneider, Butler, Bigras and Mezanec.

Still need to add a blue chipper or two, either via trade or additional drafts.
