BMB, considered Berard, but he did have a recession statwise in his College season compared to the year before. Both are good prospects, but as they also both are ways of NHL quality. Having that year to year improvement is vital if they will ever get to the NHL, so ranking the one with no lesser season yet higher.

Ready to eat crow on this one as Berard really takes the AHL with storm later this fall.

Add Edström.

Why is Brouillard on the list of choices? He is too to be considered a prospect.

Thought about Berard but I think he took a step back; and BMB took a step forward.

I provided the explanation for why I included him in the first poll. I know he's 28, but it's his first NHL contract. He took an unusual and circuitous route to get here. To me, he was no different than Gustav Rydahl, who was 27 when we signed him and 28 when the season started. Those guys, I give one year of prospect eligibility. It's not based on Calder eligibility or anything.

The old HF criteria which is what we still go by, always included this piece: "These are general guidelines and should be followed the majority of the time but certain players may still be listed as prospects if circumstances warrant." Brouillard is my liberal application of that provision. No one is going to vote for him, anyway.

Berard is not a first line player. It’s not his skillset and IMO his drop in production is primarily attributed to this. Berard performed his best when put in supporting roles down the line - where’s he be slotted if he were to become a successful NHLer. BMB ceiling was higher the moment he got drafted and after his D+1 year - his floor is at least not lower.

He led his team in scoring last year?

all of Providence saw big drops in scoring and struggles with it, not just him.

Not really my point though. Berard is not and will not be expected to be a point producer when / if he gets to the nhl. I was responding to the post where Berard was “compared” to BMB in terms of scoring dynamic year over year. My point was that this change was more of a symptom rather than the underlying factor for preferring BMB over Berard in the rankings.

Took Robertson but BMB is the obviously most talented guy in there. I just think there's a clear path for Robertson to eventually be atleast the 3rd pair dman for this team. I think they're taking their time with him and it should pay off. Berard i love his style but I'm not sure if he has the size to play that way at the nhl level, i hope so.
