A lot of consensus here. It's basically Crawley vs. Wall for most, seems like. I don't see much with Crawley. Looks like a career AHL second-pair guy. Ah well.

I could see Tarmo making a late run in this poll. People love upside and I think quite a few still think Tarmo has it.

Fogarty still may surprise, a righty C with size and and a two-way mindset.
I give Gropp benefit of the doubt off only a rookie pro season
Wall's freshmen season is why i wont bail on him yet
then included Hughes and Sjahlin as i had reasons to doubt all the others

Someone needs to vote for Daniel Bernhardt, just because otherwise it's depressing.

EDIT: Nanne, too. He's actually still kind of interesting. I'm intrigued to see where he plays (D or F) this season, what kind of role he gets and what level of production he generates.

Nowhere
Went Reunanen, Gropp, Sjalin, Hughes and Fogarty....

I have reason to believe that Reunanen got the shit end of the stick in TPS and am intrigued at his fresh full start with Lukko. Make or break year for him, though. Needs to play consistently.

Gropp could become something still when put with a decent playmaker. Long shot, IMO, to become an NHL regular, but his shot is still a lethal weapon. Intrigued to see his center partner in Hartford. My guess is Howden.

Sjalin primarily had an injury filled post draft year. Think he could turn it around still. Defensively responsible with Leksands and could curve his play into a two-way type. Like Reunanen, needs consistent playing time. Still only 18 years old!!

Hughes, from what I heard through the grapevine, is really good at shooting the puck. He will most likely be playing wing alongside Alex Newhook, who is currently a top 10 pick in the 2019 draft class. After that, he goes to an extremely well coached Northeastern team. Really like his potential path and this could be a steal later on for NYR.

I think Fogarty does all the little things right defensively. Think that alone deserves a few cups of coffee in the NHL, but his offense is pretty much nonexistent. With that said, I think he has the capability of being a consistent 13th forward and that's notable given how long it has taken him to develop.

Our drafting from the 4th round on has been, with the exception of Fast, utterly fruitless for 10 years.

Have to hope one of these guys bucks the trend.

It has been, but we've taken some really interesting, promising players the past four or so years. So it could definitely cut that 10-year period of suck down to five years or thereabouts.

Go back before that and we had Hagelin, Callahan, Pyatt, Zidlicky and Hank back to 2000. And honestly guys like Prucha, Crabb, Guenin, Dawes, maybe even Potter and Hollweg, were actually good picks. If you're picked in the fourth round and you play 100-300 NHL games that's a really good pick.

Depends on how you define useless.

Drafts are becoming increasingly stacked toward the first 3 rounds, with exceptional picks beyond that becoming significantly less commonplace.

That's not necessarily unique to the Rangers, it's been a league-wide trend for a while.

Still, between 2004 and 2014, the Rangers drafted Callahan, Pyatt, Hagelin, Weise, Fast, and Shestyorkin.

Since that time, the jury is still out, but prospects would include Gettinger, Ronning, Crawley and Fontaine --- all of whom signed pro contracts.

Then there's Huska, Virta, etc. who are at least somewhat on the radar at this point.
