Boo. With his size and skating, he'll get more NHL chances even if he doesn't make it here. And I expect he'll make it.

Lindqvist is a smallish PP specialist, from what I know about him. Maybe his game translates and he's a great signing. Maybe he's back in Sweden next year. A lot of unknowns with him, for me anyway.

Went with Lindqvist in what could end up being a battle between two specialists --- pp and pk.

Frankly Nieves isn't even my number 21 prospect at this point. Just don't think the overall understanding of the game is there.

In a structured environment like a PK, he might be able to carve out a niche as a specialist. But the speed/size is really the only thing that keeps him in the conversation. Just about every other area of his game checks off as average to below average.

nieves is vastly overrated by this board, he skates well....thats all
Half the board thinks he has zero future in the NHL and the other half thinks he can maybe carve out a role as a useful fourth line player. How is that overrating him? I mean it's literally saying the difference between being "not an NHL player" and "maybe a fourth liner" is vastly overrating a player. It's literally the smallest, most insignificant difference in valuation of a player. It's not like a bunch of people think he's your future 1C; that's just bern, and he is actually insane.

All jokes about the resident lunatic aside, I'm probably Nieves' biggest advocate, and even my assessment is limited to "I'm confident he will have some kind of NHL career as fourth liner, somewhere."

Fify. Voted Lindy. I remember one year Boo was voted like our #5 prospect. My how times have changed.
I don't remember him being that high, but you could be right. I mean we had some awful prospect depth for a long time, and then Boo was a second round pick who came out and had a really nice Freshman campaign for Michigan. He was actually an exciting prospect for a couple years, until the offense stagnated.

We've got Barron at 18. If he was a second rounder instead of a seventh, he'd immediately jump half a dozen spots. The reality is, while Barron may be a nice late-round find, he's still unlikely to see the 30 NHL games that Boo has.

all im saying is the guy has stalled and i wouldnt vote him even as our #20 prospect, hell hes probably 25, 26 in my book

i also dont even think he has a role as a 4th line depth player, to me hes a career AHL player and its not like he has lit it up down there either

And that's all fine, but do you really think the difference between being 20/21 in our system rankings and 25/26 is a "vast" overrating of his status? We're talking like 5 spots here, when we're in a range where so little separates guys each round. Like Boo could literally lose this round and then lose the next round as well. He's no favorite here. A lot of people share in your evaluation.

Yeah, could be, but then why bring him back? If you'll remember a couple years ago he was a late cut from camp, it was reported the team really liked him, and then he even got a game when no one thought that would actually happen. I think the organization likes him. Lettieri also stayed in the AHL after February. I think they just decided to leave those guys down there to get big, regular minutes. Who knows, though.

i agree that we are dissecting such small differences in players, especially at this point in our rankings, i just feel that when it comes to nieves he just hasnt shown enough for me

lettieri on the other hand can shoot the puck and score goals more of a specialist in that regard and id rather him then nieves playing on my 4th line

between the two up top i will always lean towards the players that can put the puck in the net, lindqvist also offers that unknown quality in that obviously i havent seen much of him but i already know what im getting from boo and it doesnt flash nhl player

Nieves.
I mean we don't even know if Lindqvist could become AHL top6. So many prospects with similar statistics in SHL failed to reach even this level when moved to NA.
