Meh Campbell and Georgiev are both backups atm with similar ceilings. Seems silly to give up Dermott. If anything, Leafs want both Campbell and Georgiev for next year when they cant afford Freddy.

As we have just signed Dell to a one year deal why not include him in the package and ship Andersen elsewhere.

TML
Dermott + Dell

NYR
Georgiev + 7th

Dell provides a solid veteran back up under a million. Dermott can play in your top 4 and moves JJ down to the third pairing.

TML get a promising young goalie who can play the 1B role with Campbell. Each taking 35-40 starts next season. Hopefully taking the reins. As mentioned earlier the slight overpayment is reduced by swapping out Dell from Campbell. Add the 7th as D have more value.

Win win for both teams.

Leafs fans were after Georgiev last year, as they needed a better backup than Hutchinson. Leafs went out and obtained Campbell, along with Kyle Clifford, for a borderline NHLer, and two thirds. Campbell's SV%, and GAA have been better than Georgiev's so far in his career. I'm not saying Campbell will have the superior career, just that if obtaining Georgiev, you are hoping he continues to improve, but might not. It doesn't make sense to make a trade, and give up assets, when you already have a satisfactory backup, on the risk that the younger guy, "might" become better in net.

If the Leafs wanted Georgiev, it would be to compete for the backup, or be the Marlies/3rd string guy, if he couldn't push out Campbell. (But they signed Dell for that) The value would reflect that. If Rangers wanted to move him (which doesn't make sense), there are other teams who would place a much higher value on him, than the Leafs right now. Should the Leafs lean towards moving on from Andersen, and Georgiev show that he has capabilities beyond being backup, maybe there is a conversation next year, but that depends on the options available at that time, and how Leafs own multiple goalie prospects develop over the year too.
