The Rangers had Lundqvist and didnt do anything with him

They have an amateur GM running their entire hockey ops now. You can bet theyll f*** something up yet again.

Panarin, Zibanejad, Fox, Trouba, and yet not one playoff game yet.

whats the excuse when they miss again next year in a harder division?
Didn't they go to or close to the finals a couple times with a pretty mediocre team with lundqvist?

Wont be a good hire; Rangers are a finesse and skill team, Gallant works well with tough systems and cycling/defense.

Hes going to get them more wins than Quinn so by virtue its a better coach. But he wont get nearly as much out of Kakko and Lafreniere as a newer-school coach would

Rangers gonna Ranger though and hire the biggest dollar name
Kakko has become a very strong two-way forward, and Lafreniere plays more of a power game than finesse.
Gallant was fantastic for both Huberdeau and Barkov's development in Florida.

Last season they got bounced in the bubble against a much better team. This season they didn't do enough down the stretch but up until the last week or so they were right there fighting for a spot.

But, yes, they missed. You're judging the "not one playoff game" over just 2 seasons? 3 of those players you mentioned produced above what was expected for most of those 2 seasons. So i'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

I think Kakko ends up a cycling monster.

11 points is pretty far off.

Why not? Laf/Kakko have looked mediocre so far. Yea they have Panarin, Fox and Zibanejad but unless the other two hit their potential, I don't see what you would be afraid of.

We were in the thick of it up for a while. The end of the season, especially post firing of JG and JD was an absolute disaster for the team.

When your 5’10”, 170 lb. Left Wing Superstar is willing to jump on the back of an enraged Tom Wilson; that is the definition of the word “tough”.

Weird, so the Rangers are a one man team
Youre saying?

ive been told Zibanejad is a top-10 C . Though he scores against two teams

So you say Zibanejad is a top 10-15 center, but he only scores against two teams in the league? How is that possible?

And the coach who has been fired several times already gets a new gig in NHL. Pretty funny.
From what I understand he does not bode well with management and goes all out for his players which is why he does not last anyplace more than the 3 year shelf life of a coach in this league.

I don't think they have what it takes to play a mature game yet. Gifted offensively but very soft and very porous defensively. Florida and Vegas both designed their teams for Gallant upon his arrival. I think the Rangers are going to be very active on the trade front to accommodate Gallant
The D being bad was all Ruff and Quinn. When they brought in Martian that all changed and the D looked solid for most of the year. All until the last couple of weeks when they collapsed.

Thats deceiving. The Rangers mailed it in the last 4-5 games, and the gap got bigger to teams that had something to play for at that point in the season. The last month of the season they were absolutely in it, except the last 7-10 days.

Yes, on a message board posting messages

You know where the Rangers are? Right next to New Jersey on the golf course. Though Rangers fans like to act high and mighty for a team that cant make the playoffs with a top-7 offense

Awww, are you sad your team is a trashy dumpster fire that nobody wants to play in?

Sorry, not our fault :(

They may as well just go back to being the swamp rats, there's no difference lol

Its gonna be helluva ride at least.

That Rangers team will be working so haaaaard that none have worked as hard before.

Players with low stamina levels, will not be in Gallants's favor.
- also, if you are not giving 110% in each game, you will not be getting much minutes,
there are no free loaders in team Gallant

PS. interesting how he is able to work with Rangers Russians (Georgiyev,Shestyorkin,Buchnevich,Kravtsov,Panarin),
Gallant's track record with Russian born players is not great

Gallant is a lot like Sutter or Tortorella. Says what's on his mind and the heck with what anyone else thinks. Wants to force the other team to play a perimeter-style outside game with an intense and well-supported checking game. Offensively he wants to be high-tempo but not to the point where you undermine the defensive game. Can rub some guys the wrong way with his personality but those are not gonna be the guys you win with anyway so it's okay...probably a good thing they did not let him talk to Jimmy Dolan. He will get the most out of role-players and guys who are underappreciated elsewhere (look at Karlsson in Vegas for an example) but he can be hard on high-skilled guys, especially the proverbial young guy who coasted on skill at lower levels and still expects to do so in the NHL. Lafreniere seems like the sort of player he will like and get the most out of imo.
