i think the big problem here is that nobody is overperforming.

usually on a team you'll have a few guys underperform, a few guys overperform, and it'll even out.

it happens short term and long term.

For every Aaron Voros hot streak, there's a Jaromir Jagr cold streak.

the problem here is that the only "positive" has been Brad Richards returning to norm...so you can't even count that as a positive since he's basically producing at the rate you'd project him to based on his career track record. (though not against last years performance, particularly down the stretch).

So, with Nash, Cally and Hagelin being injured, youre seeing those guys as "underperforming" what youd expect.

But, through a combined 54 man games played, Arron Asham, Dominc Moore, Rick Nash, Brian Boyle, Benoit Pouliot, Derick Brassard, Derek Stepan, MZA, Jesper Fasth, JT Miller, and Taylor Pyatt have COMBINED to score a grand total of.....ZERO GOALS.

You usually don't like to blame bottom guys when the team cant score, but they are all ice cold. Zero goals for some big names and zero goals for some intermediate names, and zero goals for some blah names.

When only 3 forwards have scored for you through 6 games, there are a lot of problems going on.

One could argue unsustainable problems. The likelyhood of that many players being that cold for much longer is statistically unlikely.

You'd have to think this team will start exploding offensively for the mean to approach a more sustainable level. Just cant have this many guys be this cold for much longer.

look at our lineup...theres really no clear obvious way to set it together. might as well try something to see if it sticks.

Schneider will be starting. Looks like one of Fayne, Josefson, or Olesz could be back in the lineup based on what DeBoer said.

Cory Schneider will start in net for Devils Saturday vs. Rangers. DeBoer said he's pondering "a couple" other lineup changes.

Fast should be on the PP over Pyatt...

Pyatt will be parked in front of the net presumably. Don't think that's Fast's game. If you want to argue Miller, maybe. Pyatt scored 9 and 7 PPG's in Vigneault's first two seasons at Vancouver respectively. Let's see how it goes. Think he can be effective in front.

I know its not Fast game to be in front of the net.. Maybe have Fast on the PP with someone else in front Boyle or Miller would be a better option than Pyatt. Fast has offensive potential and should play to succeed and not with 4th liners lile Moore and Dorsett..

Don't disagree with need for Fast to play with more skilled players to excel offensively but are you taking Brassard or Stepan off of that first unit for Fast's sake? I wouldn't. Maybe on 2nd unit depending on how game goes and Zucc and Pouliot are playing.

That's an understatement. Broduer was laughably bad. He needs to be Ol' Yeller'd. Some guys just don't know when to quit.

.865 ugh.

dude just needs to go away. his slowness has actually gotten slower.

hes a dick but hes had an amazing career. the longer he stays, the more he sullies his reputation. then again, let him stay...

Brodeur can play 5 more years for all I care, the more easy wins against NJ the better. :)

id put Fast on the PP over Zucc or Pouliot to send a message. Brassard is one of the best playmakers on this team if not the best. he needs to stay on the PP

Brassard should be glued to the first powerplay unit. He cycles the puck very well and can hit the open man from seemingly anywhere. No reason to take him off or demote him to the 2nd.

Yeah, come to think of it, I hope they have to buy him out or something insane. Or he signs somewhere else and flounders. Something funny.

Fayne and Josefson are playing Saturday vs. Rangers. Were already told. Not official, but looks like Larsson and Loktionov coming out.
