While in hindsight it's true they had little chance after Jan, it's that back half of Feb (0-4-2) that did the Canes in.
The last 6 games in Feb were not particularly easy or hard (NJ, NYI, NJ, Pit, Det, Bos).
JAN 5-6-1
FEB 4-6-3
If they Canes even went a decent 7-5-1 in Feb they'd still not be eliminated, although a long shot to make it.
Now if their back half of Feb was like their front half... well that's enough ifs
