Without the name "Bruins" attached to the team an affiliation with them would be worthless around here. Plus the Islanders are much more invested player-wise in the Railers than the Bruins will ever be so there would be a negative impact to the on-ice product.

Bruins haven’t really ever had interest in Worcester. And while this season was rough going with their affiliates in Bridgeport and Long Island, I agree with 210 that it is and will be a better relationship than the Bruins will ever offer.

Worcester is pretty much just a really big Boston suburb from Boston’s point of view. Getting the WooSox might help change that. But, it’ll need to find its role. But the big population nearby city is Providence, the solidified edge of market territory is Springfield, Manchester, and Portland. Burlington for all intents and purposes from the minds of New Englanders might as well be a foreign country that has Ben and Jerry’s and Bernie Sanders with nothing else to offer. Hartford is pretty much annexed NYC territory, not sure why they’d go there. Weymouth is for the rich south shore people.

have made the playoffs once since 2015 and got swept Atlanta Gladiators - Wikipedia.

It depends on how many players you get from the AHL team, but Atlanta's performance doesn't really affect Worcesters, as Woo (and any other ECHL team not named Newfoundland or Cincinnati) still will end up signing 3/4 of its players to ECHL contracts. Cincy had 12 players on AHL contracts this year, but a typical team has 3-6. I know the Bruins haven't used the ECHL much in recent years, but having an affiliate closer to Providence might lead to a few more players getting assigned to the ECHL.

Railers used nine Bridgeport players and one Islanders player full time this season. Having that many players in the ECHL contracted to Providence, which are players the Boston Bruins would be paying for, goes against the NHL Bruins' business philosophy. It will be a significant issue for Worcester.
