Quick… who is the only current Flyers forward to have played on all four lines this season?
I’m certain the first name to jump into your head was not Michael Raffl. And yet, he’s the answer.
Adding to his versatility resume, Raffl has also played on the power play and on the penalty kill.
Having him on the roster was one of the reasons Max Talbot became moveable in a trade for a better offensive player – because Raffl was versatile enough to do some of the things Talbot was doing for the Flyers.

...so we might see more from Raffl after all? Coaching staff seems to be quite happy with him, how do you see his performance so far?

Really like what I've seen from Raffl so far this season. He's definitely proved he can be an effective two way player, it's just a shame there's not any room for him currently in the top 9. Hopefully Berube alternates him and Rosehill on the fourth line (though Rosehill hasn't played too bad). He's not a big hitter but, a line of Raffl - Hall- Rinaldo could be a decent fourth line.

I really like some of what I've seen from Raffl so far - creating lots of turnovers, working hard on the forecheck, good defense - but he seems to lack a finishing touch, which is something we really need so far this year.

Sending him down to get him more ice time playing top-6 minutes for the Phantoms may pay off for the Flyers in the long run.

At the same time, I agree that he would probably look decent on the fourth line.
Unlike McGinn he can use his speed and puck handling skills to create something on his own without needing someone to feed the puck to him. Adding a responsible two-way posession player to the mix of Stonewall Hall and Always Go For The Hit Rinaldo won't hurt.

Rinaldo got a minute of PK last night. I would rather see Raffl get those minutes when healthy.

I like his hustle, wheels, and grit but he has made some mistakes as well. Especially with turning the puck over. I still think he should be sent down to get more confidence in his offensive game.

I was skeptical of Raffl at first (as I am most incoming undrafted free agents from the college ranks, Europe, or overage CHL guys). But I have absolutely loved what I have seen from him thus far. Hopefully he keeps it up and gets re-signed.

Raffl gives them another PK player too. Last night when Couts went to the box, the big question was who was going to kill?

    Answer: Rinaldo.

    Not me

I think it's great that Berube is seeing if Rinaldo can kill penalties. With the way he has played the last few seasons, he's earned the extra ice-time

I've liked what I've seen from him so far. He even has some grit and checks. Yeah his offensive prowess seems off but better than that of Pyorala from what I remember..

I agree, Rinaldo is fast, can hit, and is decent defensively. If he doesn't try to make hits that put him out of position on the PK, I'm fine with giving him a shot.

Hopefully the recent scratches are really due to illness.

Theres zero reason that Rosehill should be playing over Raffl. Even on the fourth line. Raffl is versitale and won't take stupid penalties

Any player that isn't scared to block a shot deserves some PK time...Lappy was one of the best.

He kinda seems like a combination of Powe and Nodl. I like it.

It was due to a stomach flu but apparently that passed and he was fine to play against the Pens but they decided not to play him. It's one of those unwritten rules that you don't change your lineup when you're winning(Unless it's a bigger name player). Usually thats with a 4-5+ game streak but with this team, two wins in a row was enough to not mess with what's working. I assume they will role with the same lineup until they lose.

I agree. Raffl is a good player, and capable of playing in the top 6 too. We'll need him this year, and McGinn too, but it might be better to send him down if he's going to be scratched.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Raffl playing in the AHL for a while, but it looks like he's already adjusted to the NA rink size. I'm not really sure how it would benefit him more than playing 4th line minutes + PK at this point.

I like me some Raffl, however I also liked me some Nodl back in the day so it makes sense.

i dig the awkward austrian vibe. but he needs to stay the eff away from the top line. not since nodl have we seen such hands of stone!

Raffl is a better player than Rosehill.

I think Raffl is doing a nice first year job and see no reason that he should not be on the Flyers roster other than traded.
