Guess we have too much money to spend? Niskanen strikes me as the guy who is a top pair defender in name, not actual play. He is a good defenseman though. Gudas was better last year alone, but Niskanen is better with the puck. We didn't trade Ghost so I consider it a win

I think he's a good D-man but this kind of a weird one. Gudas was so damn good last season. What the hell...

I can only think we did this because Fletch wanted a RHD that had some offensive pop in his game.

It is weird that we don't get pick compensation out of basically saving their bacon cap wise. I think the trade helps Washington more than it helps us

Im not thrilled with this. Id have been fine acquiring Niskanen, but giving up Gudas makes it nearly a wash. Gudas 1 year until UFA and Niskanen 2, so thats a factor I guess.
