Corner stone for the franchise for a long time. One of the best 2 way guys out there. Love this

Good deal for Stars, thought Faksa might get $2.5-2.75. Nill seems to be able to talk guys down to bare minimum of true worth, and happy to do so. Place to win, taxes, etc. all used to do it.

That 3rd year and still only $2.2M AAV is huge. I'm sure it's heavily backloaded to make the QO in his final season of eligibility high ... like I"m guessing a little north of $3 million ... but that's a good deal.

Perfect Bridge deal, Seems Nill learned from the Eakin albatross

Entirely unrelated. Eakin signed a 2 year bridge for only $1.9M AAV. That contract and this contract from Faksa are comparable. You would evaluate Faksa's 2nd contract to Eakin's 2nd contract, not his first.

Not unrelated at all.
He's not handing out heaps of money to RFA's for no reason. Faksa is already a better player than Eakin, in pretty much every facet of hockey, and he does it without getting ample time with Benn/Seguin and pp time.
IMO Faksa could have asked for quite a bit more, especially when considering the 3rd yr. He doesn't necessarily have much leverage which is why, technically you're right they're not comparable
But ever since that travesty Nill hasn't thrown excess money at his RFA's, and he has to know Vegas did him a huge favor, two with the Methot trade.
And he did a good job spacing the contract so that when he does have to pay Faksa his due, Hanzal's gone

This signing goes right under the radar here. He had just a little less points than Hanzal in his 2nd nhl season, different styles of games I know but still Hanzal had more minutes per game.

Yes, wouldn't be surprised to see him up his game and actually be better than Hanzel, and promoted over him to 2C. He is a 2-3 tweener, and in a few years could even be a solid 2C.
