A huge man in soviet and russian hockey we mourn today.

V.Tikhonov

13 straight Soviet titles (1978–1989)
World Championship gold in 1978–1979, 1981–1983,1986,1989,1990.
Olympics gold in 1984,1988,1992; silver in 1980.
1979 Challenge Cup and 1981 Canada Cup.

That is all.

Only the Bolshoi Ballet could match Tikhonov's gift for creating superior training methods, through scientific analysis, and for elevating hockey into an art form and thing of beauty. The best coach that these eyes have ever seen. He will be sorely missed.

Виктор Васильевич Тихонов, In my opinion the greatest coach of all time. He was so so far ahead of his time. All the polymetrics and off season training that all the teams and players do today, Victor had his teams doing back in the 1970's.

He will be greatly missed....

RIP Виктор.....

The performance of his team in the 1079 Challenge Cup is probably the greatest coaching masterpiece of all time!
