BTW, math teacher in Portugal??? You got some explaining to do then with why they suck so bad at math there

Poor Maths and Portuguese exam grades

Sorry i gather you are still in high school, but do you really think this one guy is responsible for the country. The fact is he is educated in this subject, and even the basics seem beyond your comprehension. As someone else said, stop being a dick and accept you have no clue.

I guess I just don't see this glorious breakout opportunity you and Quinn were seeing. Jumping up in the play is Hughes' Jekyll and Hyde, he needs to learn when and when not to, the answer isn't every play. Even if that limping pass (Glass got a big peice of it, more a "battle" draw) made it to Wahlstrom, what options does he really have? Force a pass to Norris? Chip it out passed the defender at the point? Ring it back into the corner? Pull some crazy dekes and make a perfect play to Hughes? It was a low percentage situation. Wahlstrom is stationary, on his backhand, facing his net and most everyone is down low. The fact this is a nothing summer scrimmage and we're scrutinizing this way way too much is the only thing we're going to ageee on. haha

Yes just get it out of your zone, that was wahlstroms option and he should have been ready for it because he was one of cotters only options if he won the puck behind the net, the puck has got to get out. Again it was a very broken play i just dont agree either this was a monumental screw up that can be pinned entirely on him and some disaster train wreck he caused, i dont think we will ever agree on that either.

Quinn and Jack grew up in Toronto (like 11 years). They were born in Florida purely because his dad worked as a manager there. That was short and they moved to Toronto and he was employed by the leafs. Quinn didn't leave Toronto until 2 years ago to join the program. He played with guys like McLeod in the GTHL Marlboros 3 years ago.

He actually spends time in the offseason to workout in Toronto with his brother and guys like McDavid. He was talking about it in an interview like last week.

Toronto is basically his real hometown.

Actually, to @Etteduag ot Reseob 's point, he's actually spot on with his comments. One man is responsible for the country, and his severe lack of integrity in this instance is a direct reflection of the Portuguese. With respect, perhaps it's you that needs to grow up and open your eyes to a broader world that's out there.

I love when posters go away for awhile then return with an entirely new schtik. Keeps things fresh.

We keep excusing this guy for being young, but he isn't like thirteen years old, is he? Any teenager who is learning high school math should be able to grasp that concept pretty easily.

40% of adults can't grasp it so I don't really see why. There is a reason casinos make as much money as they do.

Speaking of math and lottery odds, a number of years ago when doing league hockey pools was more popular on here (before mods shut things down so now you only have one or two keeper leagues) I was curious so I took all the yahoo leagues I've played in, and calculated the average lottery draft position (d) vs the average number of teams (t). Statistically, d / t should come close to 0.5, as it's all random so the high picks will balance out the low picks: so if you draft 1/10 in league and 14/14 in another, the average would be 6/12.

My actual numbers though with a good sample size of about 20 leagues, was 11 / 14... yeah I know it's nonsense but I've just never trusted gambling, or have been able to get over the idea that some people have bad luck and some people have good luck. Especially for the latter when playing various game with my grandma over the years, I mean bingo should be completely random but damn she's good at winning it.

You can say "OMG he won't be able to do that in the NHL" about any talented played ever. Just because he does what he can in lower levels because he can doesn't mean he is someone like Jordan Subban. I really think he will be just fine and even though I think he will benefit from another year of NCAA it is not that I think he can't handle the NHL.

His worst problem even next year when he makes the NHL is the team who, as their only good offensive pivot, pushes him to go way over his head. This happens all the time.

I understand being ignorant of the concept entirely just from lack of exposure to it, but I doubt that 40% of adults wouldn't grasp the concept if you walked them through it like we've been doing. This is some Karl Pilkington ****.
