Quick Icing Rules Question

A couple (very similar) questions about icing rules:

1. Let's say the play is 4on4. The defending team ices the puck but before the other team makes it back into the zone, their player is released from the box such that the defending team is now on the penalty kill. Icing?
2. Similarly, a team is on the PK and ices the puck. Again, before the other team reaches the dots, the penalty is released. Icing?

I assume yes for the first and no for the second but I wasn't sure. Thanks.

Easy way to remember -- whether it's icing or not in these PP / non-PP situations is determined when the puck is played by the team icing the puck, not when the puck crosses the end red line.

Your situation #1 happened in today's Rangers - Senators Game 5, and it was correctly called as icing.
