can you explain to me why is Noel Gunler in front of Cole Perfetti

Sure thing. I’ve had Gunler in front of Perfetti since I started making rankings for the 2020 class. He outperformed Raymond and Holtz offensively last season and has been fantastic in the little opportunity he’s been given this season with Lulea. Although he’s been snake bitten for Lulea and has just a single goal this season, he actually has one of the best shots in the 2020 class. He posted 4 goals + 2 assists in 11 games of champions league play, better numbers than Raymond or Holtz in a small sample with similar playing time.

This year Gunler has proven to be a three zone player. Perfetti struggles in his own end at the moment and I have more concerns about how his creative offensive style will translate at the NHL level. If it does translate, Perfetti’s upside is higher.

The two are definitely close but I’ll take the player who has rounded out his game with limited offensive opportunity in a superior league. His performance last year showed he has what it takes to excel as a scorer. If Gunler was given double digit minutes per game regularly, he’d have numbers up there with your typical top 10 picks out of the SHL.
