"Pure Goal Scorer" vs "Sniper"

... A pure goal scorer, to me, refers to someone who has one dominant skill -- scoring goals. He's just a scorer, a pure one, with little else to contribute to the team...

I suppose that's exactly my point. The term: "pure goal scorer", is used so erratically that it's meaningless when describing a player. Without a standardly acknowledged definition there's little hope that any of us might ever come to an agreement on who is or who is not a "pure goal scorer".
