Let's tone down the snark, shall we?

1. the thread does not specify LHD, it specifies 'puck moving' and other posters acknowledged generally Deangelo's skill set is spot on match to OP ask, even if value and currency is not clear.

2 best case scenario, of course, Danault > than ADA.
However, it is NOT best case, all things are not equal.

Danault has manned up and advised he wants to be paid.
Like I said, premise is Habs [most teams] can't/won't go there given hard cap reality.

So his current actual value is diminished as a rental where there is min likelihood acquiring team can/will extend.

In THAT context, that factual reality, it is a ballpark conversation.

1 - Your right, OP does not specifically identify LHD, but the right side has Weber and Petry so your thought process is that the Habs want to trade their #1C (most ice time, best face off guy, etc.) for a head case #3 RHD. Your right good proposal.
2 - you're right again not all things are equal. 1 player is playing top line C the other is sitting on the sidelines after yet another issue and has been told he's never playing for the Rangers again. This type of thing usually warrants a teams top C in return.
3 - So a team with playoff dreams trades away their best most experienced C because his contract is expiring, the team would let him walk before trading for ADA. If Danault value is diminishing what is ADA's?
4 - In any context this is a ballpark conversation - a conversation held a ballpark by baseball fans that don't know a single thing about hockey

How about Gostisbehere from Philly, he needs a change of scenery and would be helpful on the power play.
Ghost doesn't need a change....except to get more PP time instead of Provy.

He is playing 20+ minutes a night this year alongside Provy......and has been better than Provy this year.

Its shocking that certain posters actually think ADA has value after clearing waivers for being a total locker room cancer and persona non-grata in the NHL.

No NHL team would take ADA unless he came with a sweetener and/or cap-retention. He will be KHL bound when his contract is up, assuming any KHL team would take him.

Deangelo is negative value. If Bergevin lost his mind and wanted ADA he would ask NYR to retain AND send us a pick fir ridding you of that headache.

Meanwhile, if the Habs wanted to trade Danault they would easily get a 1st from a contender.

so why would we do something as idiotic as trade a 1st round pick for a locker room cancer who was waived and persona non grata? Why trade value for negative value and a headache?

highlight is NOT a given
