I've been meaning to do this the last couple of months but I'm going to be doing a thread to discuss each console's free games for the month.

First up, Playstation Plus:

XCOM 2 (2016) - Playstation 4

XCOM 2 is a turn-based tactical which puts the player at the helm of a resistance group against an alien occupation of planet Earth. The game had a pretty good reception, scoring 87 and 88 Metacritic scores on XB1 and PS4 respectively. The game was praised for its gameplay and procedurally-generated levels which prevented set patterns. The PC version also received positive feedback for the mod-ability of the game.

Trials Fusion (2014) - Playstation 4

Trials Fusion is the basic "dirtbike trial game" with face-lifted graphics. It's a pretty good looking game with an interesting additions to a common style of game.

The odd and incredibly interesting stories about this game is insane hidden message and world-wide scavenger hunt within the game that the developer claims winners will receive some type of "reward" in the year 2113. The story is absolutely crazy and you can read about it here Trials Evolution's insane century-spanning ARG/scavenger hunt solved

Even if you don't spend a second playing this game, I would absolutely recommend reading about what they did within this game.

Zombie Driver HD (2012 - Playstation 3)

Zombie Driver is a fun little top-down Zombie-Driving game... as the title implies. The game generally consists of driving through an apocalyptic city completing various missions, typically killing zombies.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (2012 - Playstation 3)

An installment of the popular Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series. Anyone familiar with the series will generally know what to expect here. Tactical stealth combat missions revolving around futuristic weapons and technology. The game can be enjoyed in either the first-person or 3rd-person view modes.

Atomic Ninjas (2013 - PS Vita)

A quirky little title that lets players control their ninjas in various different game modes like Deathmatches or a Capture the Flag type of game. Honestly, not a whole lot of depth here. lol.

Squares (2015 - PS Vita)

Once again, not much going on here. A puzzle-reflex mobile game.

XBox Live Free Games

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia (2016 - Xbox 1 - June 1 - June 30)

Not the typical open-world Assassin's Creed game, Chronicles:Russia is a 2.5D platformer which uses many of the elements of traditional AC games, stealth, gadgets, and obviously, assassination. If you enjoy the AC universe, this game follows right along with that. It had generally mediocre reviews, but if you're into 2.5D games it's a fun play.

Smite Gold Bundle Xbox 1 (June 16 - July 15)

The free MOBA game Smite has been a fairly popular on the console since release, as seemingly the console rival to League of Legends or DOTA. As the game itself is free, the package being offered is a $100 value in terms of content. This includes 20 gods and over 50 bonus items like skins and the like.

Sonic All-Stars Racing - Xbox 360 (June 1 - June 15)

With all your favorite Sonic characters Sonic All-Stars Racing is pretty much what you expect. A fun racing game in the Mario Kart style. A generally well-received game, worth playing for the free play if you have kids or if you like race-cart games.

Lego Indiana Jones - Xbox 360 (June 16 - June 30)

Not gunna dive too much into this one. It's a Lego Indiana Jones game. I think you know what the deal is... lol.

Welp, there ya have it! Neither line-up really blows me away, but it seems like PS4 takes the edge here in terms of the free titles.
