Korshkov to miss at least 12 weeks. Shoulder injury.

What a bust pick this was. :( Even if he somehow turns into a half way decent NHL player there's still a number of other players drafted after him that have wayyy more promise and have a much more higher likelihood to make a significant impact in the NHL than he ever will. Would much rather a Carter Hart in our system than Korshkov right now for example.

Solid base of youth to build the Marlies around for next season:

Liljegren
Rosen
Borgman
Durzi
Nielsen
Subban

Bracco
Grundstrom
Brooks
Moore
Engvall
Timashov
Marchment
Gauthier

Clune, Holl, Pickard all good odds of being back too

Should be another fun year.

I hear you. Personally I want Jonathon Dahlen who’d look really nice in our prospect pool as well, even if to use as a trade chip. I have a hard time seeing Korshkov amounting to anything after his lack of PT last year and now this major injury.

He's had 2 major injuries - no player whose career is stalled by injuries should be called a bust.

The pick is likely a miss, but there is no point handwringing over Carter Hart. Different management made the Korshkov pick.

From the Marlies who gets sent to the Growlers.
Forwards

LW Emerson Clark – C Derian Plouffe – RW Scott Pooley
LW Griffin Molino – C Matt Bradley – RW Kristian Pospisil
LW Hudson Elyniuk – C Giorgio Estephan – RW Zach O’Brien
C Ryan Moore – RW Josh Kestner
C Marcus Power/RW Semyon Babintsev
Defensemen

LD Sam Jardine – RD Adam Pardy
LD Stefan LeBlanc – RD Alex Gudbranson
LD Kristians Rubens – RD James Melindy
Goalies

G Michael Garteig - G ???

If they are not on that list, they are on the Marlies next year IMO. That means the only AHL contract guys on the Marlies would be Ferguson and Piccinich (who were the best AHL contract guys in the rookie camp/tournament by far IMO). I also have Eamon McAdam on the Marlies, since I think he deserves a shot at redemption, but if the Leafs can not move out enough goalies, he could be the other goalie on the Growlers next year as well. The main thing they need right now is some more defensive depth and a better goalie than Garteig (he was bad even at the ECHL level) assuming McAdam does not go down.

Jooris will probably be in the Leafs pressbox. Cracknell and Ferguson will likely be higher up, since they have significant offensive skill (Ferguson is likely capable being a top center given his 200ft game, Cracknell is a PPG winger.) Gauthier will likely center the 4th line again. Ennis is also likely to be waived and put in time on the Marlies.

Not much in the way prospect-wise on defense unless the likes of Durzi and Hollywell get sent to play with men to prepare them for AHL time. A whole lot of retroactive draft pick centers though. Hopefully one or two of them progress enough to supplant the likes of our soon to be departing AHL 30+ vets (Mueller, Greening, Cracknell etc). Or younger players who may get traded because they aren't developing enough to supplant anyone on the Leafs (Moore and Timashov for instance) or soon to be promotable players like Grundstrom, Bracco, Engvall etc.

Also:
Kara and Dzierkals are currently in the KHL. Both have 1 point each, in 4 and 5 games respectively. Aaltonen also in the KHL. 5 points in 4 games. Kizimov and Bobylev are in the VHL. Both are scoreless, but it's only been 1 and 2 games respectively. Rasanen has been listed as being in one game, which means he has been on the ice in the KHL (if he was just on the bench all game, it does not count as a game usually).

Chebykin has not been in a game yet but it looks like he could be in the KHL (or injured), and Korshkov got seriously hurt as people know. Chebykin and Bobylev could be team mates if he ends up in the VHL.

You have your goalies with the Marlies excluding Pickard and Sparks. At least one of the 2 will be there, as the starter. Probably Pickard.

Until they do not get traded and clear waivers, I am not counting on either. Both are more likely to be claimed than anyone else the Leafs will likely put on waivers this year (Jooris, Mueller, Cracknell, Greening, Holl, LoVerde, Marincin, Subban). Marincin is by far the next most likely, and we all know how much people rag on him.

No point in bringing him up to play 4th line minutes or sit in the stands as a healthy scratch. He played well down the stretch with the Marlies and this year should get even more important minutes. I'm sure he'll get a chance if he continues his progress and the Leafs suffer any injuries through the season.

Plus he gets to play with Bracco (most likely). Who does not want to do that?

Yeah, Andre Leafs have enough wingers as it is. Not to mention better for his contract status too for another year in the minors

I think this is timashov's put up or shutup year. Hes gotta drive some points this year, bracco too.

That's a little dramatic sounding. He's been on a pretty decent development path, and you're right that this is a big year for him, where he does need to take a big step, but it's not like he's been disappointing or anything.

Given how many wingers are ahead of him, even if he does well it won't be enough for him to be a Leaf. No spots this year. Maybe one at best a year for the forseeable future. Already likely 3+ wingers already on the Marlies ahead of him as of today. It not going to get any easier.

news flash, the team is stacked up front, put up or get out! D + 2 is enough time to get going, the time is now.
