Possible homer bias, but I don’t see how Edmonton hasn’t already gone.

Bouchard
Holloway
Broberg
Samorukov
Bourgault

is as good of top 5 prospects as anyone has, and it’s a pretty deep list after that with McLeod, Benson, Konovalov, etc all competing for an NHL roster spot

Edmonton is still behind a lot of teams like Minnesota, Florida, Colorado, and NYR. I'd personally include Calgary, Columbus, and Winnipeg above them as well.

I think Edmonton has a good top end prospect list but a lot of these teams have like 15-20 deep of legit NHL calibre prospects which Edmonton simply doesn't have. Probably blue chip vs. blue chip they are top 10 (as evidenced by recent prospect ranking polls) but this list is about the total farm.

I can see an argument for say Minnesota or Colorado, but come on. The Rangers, Flames, etc? I wouldn’t even trade our 3rd best prospect for anyone Calgary has in their system

I mean, our 15th ranked prospect is a recent second rounder with lots of upside. I don’t know how you can say we don’t have depth.

I wouldnt have that list within a mile of the top-6

broberg as the #3 is weak. The Devils were just voted and have Mercer as #3, a much much stronger prospect

Yeah I’d agree. Edmonton has some fine prospects but so do a lot of other teams. And there are a number of teams with better depth. I think the problem with most fans, including myself, is that we know our own prospects really well but don’t really know other teams prospects beyond the obvious names. Every team has some great prospects that fly under the radar but we only read about our own prospects so tend to overrate our prospect pool.

Broberg is not as good as prospect as you think I guess. And after Broberg, there is a huge drop in your pool in which many teams have guys like Bourgualt, Lavoie, etc. The Rangers have Lundkvist who's a better D prospect than Bouchard or Broberg. Calgary has a very deep pool in Zary, Coronato, Pelletier, Cormier, and Wolf in net. Florida has Lundell and Knight both of whom would be the #1 in Edmonton. Edmonton doesn't have a bad pool but it's not as good as you think. Even if you look at hfboards recent prospect rankings, Edmonton's top 3 went high but if you look at all of the results they were almost entirely voted in from Edmonton fans, so take their positions with a grain of salt.
