A vote for most underrated could be Tobias Stephan as well as Josh Harding. Stephan is never ever mentioned when discussing the Stars future in net, its Bacashihua this, Ellis that and Smith whatnot. All this while I think Stephan, when back at full health and in tip top shape, is the best one of the bunch. He was deemed a sleeper pick in the 2002 draft and has been compared with David Aebischer alot. Right now I'd rank them:

1) Dan Ellis
2) Jason Bacashihua
3) Mike Smith
4) Tobias Stephan (Injured)

As soon as Stephan recovers and picks up where he left off:

1) Tobias Stephan
2) Dan Ellis
3) Jason Bacashihua
4) Mike Smith

At full potential:

1) Jason Bacashihua (Sick upside, tremendously skilled, but way too inconsistant. Could be an All-Star goalie)
2) Tobias Stephan (See David Aebischer, a potential top starter)
3) Dan Ellis (Ultra reliable, but bad with the puck. Can become a dependable starter)
4) Mike Smith (Decent puckhandling goalie, likely the potential of a solid hardworking backup at best)

Also, Bacashihua is more skilled and has a higher upside than most on that list with an asterix to thier names, he should definitely have a * next to his name. Either he will be a top 10 starter or he will be a bust. I know he still hasn't imporved on his consistency since being drafted in the first round 3 years ago, but he's still 21 and the Stars won't really need him untill Turco hangs 'm up. He has plenty of time left but it would work if he were to play on a decent AHL team for once.

I'd say for the Penguins :
1- Fleury
2- Chiodo
3- Duba
4- Goepfert
5- Lehto
6- Crawford-West
7- Boucher

And Caron is also very young (would rank on par or a tad better than Chiodo).

Underrated.. Howard and Dubielewicz

I did an evaluation of each team's comparative depth here: Goalies in the 1st round (long)

Back then I predicted Los Angeles, Nashville, St.Louis, Montreal, Tampa and Toronto were the most likely to draft a goalie in the first round because they had less depth than most of the NHL. Montreal has just signed Yann Danis so they can be taken off. I would replace them with Edmonton who are well positioned with Philly's pick.

Edmonton - Schwarz
St. Louis - Montoya
Dubnyk, Schnieder to whomever (aka: I don't know).

Who is marked as a Number one goalie and you dont think they will be?
Leclaire, Delauriers.

Which team has most depth IYO?
Rangers, Pens, and the Caps all seem to have top notch goaltending prospects.

Who will be the biggest surprise?
Medvedev.

And who is the Most Underrated?
Stephan, or Medvedev.

MTL made the steal the other day by signing Yann Danis.

Its not like hes going to oust Theo or Garon.

It was a depth move.

I feel sorry for any goalie drafted by or signed by Montreal. Both Theo and Garon are 26 and younger and both are good.

I'm curious, why won't Ouellet be a number one goalie?

He's excelled at every level. He has 12 wins this season, 9 shutouts with a 1.99 GAA and .932 save percentage for pretty bad team.

I know he was good in every league he played, he's good, but I don't know i just don't think he will be a TOP tiers #1 goalie in the NHL. I see him like a Martin Biron.
But Hey what do I Know I can be wrong :)

Why would Julien Ellis go ahead of Martin Houle?

Houle has it all over Ellis in every statistical category. Is there something that I'm not seeing, because I don't get to see Ellis play?

Don't know much about Schneider; not much info available on high school players here in the States.

WHL watchers, what's your take on Everett's Michael Wall?

Henrik Lundqvist and Konstantin Barulin are pretty underrated.

I got Barulin as a starter down the road... a star.

Ask any of the coaches who faced Barulin in the RE/MAX Canada Russia Challenge if Barulin doesn't have what it takes...

Over 20 "franchise" goalie prospects? Three of 'em in Washington's system and two in the Rangers' system? And Niittymaki and Ward not included? Seems a little far-fetched...

There are only 2 players with "Franchise goalie" potential on that list.

Marc-Andre Fleury and Kari Lehtonen.

I take it you're not too high on Ouellet and Emery?

No you're right both are good goalies.
But I prefer Julien Ellis, he's bigger not by much but still. Houle is small 5'11 171 and played with a better team than Ellis, in fact the 2nd best in the Q Cape-Breton.

I think he's got a good shot to be but won't be in a caliber like Lehtonen, Emery, Fluery, Oullett Etc.
Also I was using rankings off here and kept them by the number they were ranked but I did not agree with some so some goalies I moved ahead in there teams.

I think Flordia has the weakest goaltending depth in the league by far...even LA is better then Flordia's right now....but I mean they do have Luongo and he already is IMO top three in the league.
