Probably but if your trying to push past the first round of the playoffs this season you should probably play your 6 best defenseman

    I think he's getting there

Agreed. He looked a lot more confident earlier in the year with the Leafs. It seems the grind has gotten to him and dulled his game a bit.

He'll be the 1D on a juggernaut Marlies team and then get re-called with increased confidence and hopefully some more jump heading in to the playoffs. He's a legitimate player.

I think we move Leivo or Martin, more likely Leivo.
I can't see us sending Kapanen down at this point and the Leafs play tomorrow night, so they likely waive or trade.
Sosh's injury history worries me a bit, but he plays with speed and intensity and PK's.

Carrick is looking pretty good too so I'm comfortable then if injury happens and Babcock doesn't want to go to polak we call Borgman up. He should be well tuned and flying when he arrives

Babcock doesn't seem like he's a huge fan of Carrick, we've bounced him in and out of the lineup a fair bit

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Polak is our #6 going into the playoffs

My personal opinion is that Borgman is the best man for the job and I'm hoping were building him up for playoff time, that is probably wishful thinking though

I'm not sure whether it's the actual teams or last change that's changing our personnel from game to game

I do think Borgman is the best blend of speed puck moving and physical play out of those guys though, with decent upside, #4D possibly

Probably both size and last change combo

I think Borgman will be pretty good too but Carrick atm has the edge imo but Borgman should become the better of the 2
Another plus to Carrick over Borgman is the experience especially since Carrick actually has some playoff games. Babcock played him for all the games didn't he?

He did but Carrick hardly played, if at all as the playoff series went on

Babcock did say something about Borgman getting big minutes with the Marlies and getting called back up around the TDL didn't he?

I think it's a real benefit to the Leafs to have their NHL/AHL in the same city. It might affect a guy like Bracco, seeing daily ,how NHLers "do it". Might just be a better atmosphere for him, than riding the buses in a smaller town where he might be wonder if he will ever be noticed.
Sheldon Keefe has to offered an NHL job next year I would think.

If Reilly, Gardiner and Dermot are going to play LHD, there might not be room for Borgman this season. Maybe playing with the Marlies is the best thing for Leafs. Likely there will be injuries and then he likely the the first call. The Leafs really decision is who to play right side D. Zaitsev, Hainsey...and then who?

I didn't hear Babcock saying that I must have missed it.
Maybe 8 D for the playoff run?

Wouldn't be a bad idea, the attrition rate in the playoffs is usually pretty high
I mean look at Polak last year

Fights per game are at all-time low in the AHL. Blunden played for Ottawa a couple of games ago, and Dotchin has been in the NHL all year. Kind of poor examples.

Suspendable plays happen in every league, AHL now has a cap on fighting majors, and is actively attempting to get goons out of their league. Your complaints are a bit out-dated.

would be a terrible idea, one guess which forwards would come out to accommodate extra dmen? it is NOT going to be komarov or moore (unless we trade for a new 4C) it will be Kapanen 100%.

Looking at our roster wrangling today Kapanen isn't going anywhere Walshy, we basically did everything we could not to send him down which would be the easiest thing to do

I thought we can carry an extended roster into the playoffs?

Teams don't "carry" extended rosters in the playoffs. Teams have extra players practising...usually about eight, in case of injury. But only team who have their AHL club out of the playoffs do this. The Leafs wouldn't carry any extras, their "extras" would be playing in the AHL playoffs....and would still be available for emergency call up.

not onto the bench for a game though, if you want 8D you now can only have 10 forwards no? the roster is extended but they cant all dress in the same game

right so going into a game where you want to play extended Dmen (7 or 8 D) forwards need to come out of the lineup and we wont have 4 full lines, my point is who is coming out in that scenario? not Komarov not a chance
