What do the Leafs do with Marchment this summer? He can technically go anywhere, but I hope he stays. He is proving to be a solid prospect on a steep development curve.

Another guy is Dzierkals. Doing great in the ECHL and currently on a 1-year AHL deal. We do still hold his rights, but will he really want to sign another AHL deal?

I hope he gets an elc. Checks a lot of boxes for our needs. LW, size, physicality, room to grow (as a player).

He's improved exponentially but I'm still not sure he's worth an ECL, He started great but dropped off a fair bit afterwards

Things are tight, we need to have a bit of a cull to get ourselves some contract room because it doesn't look like the decisions are going to get any easier going forward

Keeping Marchment is a must, I'm not as worried about Dzierkals but he'd be nice to keep around even if it's just for the Marlies

thought the best player on the ice tonight was aaltonen. Kid was really impressive and I thought he was the most NHL ready. Marchment and Johnson played good too! Expected more out of Liljegren.. had some slick plays and nice passes, but guess my expectations are a little high ? The goat still looks too slow and definitely doesn’t have the offensive abilities.

Four goals against, Marlies need some goaltending.
Leafs have so few injuries on the wings in the past two years that Leivo, Soshnikov, Kapanen and Johnson haven't really shown much opportunity in the NHL. I doubt if Leivo and Martin are Leafs next year, and Soshnikov might choose Russian over resigning. Komarov and JVR gone also. Johnson and later Tishnikov and Bracco could be Leafs.

I dont think that top 6 botom 6 stuff exists anymore.

Most of the best teams are just trying to get as close as they can to rolling out 4 quality lines.

The League is becoming less and less populated by specialists.

I think he is. A guy on his development curve, his current level of ability, and prospective role seems like a no brainer to add a couple years waiver free.

Looking at the alternatives-
Dzierkals we can hold off a year
Then out of Piccinich/Engvall/Bobylev/Vesey/(Pospisil) there's no one that is a clear cut more important signing to make.
Hell call me crazy but if contract spots were that much of a crunch I'd rather his ELC than Rychel's QO, unless he's getting Martin's spot.

Only reason I see not to is if at least 2 of the russians are coming over

I have no doubt they sign him. His improvement has been staggering and given his late involvement in the game it just makes him even more attactive as a prospect. I see a real impact nhler but I understand why no one is really talking about him yet

He’s looking like he’s NHL ready.

Depends on if management wants to give him a shot next year, if not I suspect he’s traded in the offseason.

Doesn't training camp give every player a shot every year ? Currently with our goalie depth,Sparks is our 3rd goalie.

The AHL really needs to do something about this nonsense.

It cannot simultaneously be a developmental league and employ sacks of shit like Blunden, Kelly, or Dotchin.

I think players need an extended look in season to say whether or not to get a true look at their potential impact.

McBackup has been fine for the Leafs, but Sparks is having a near historic season with the Marlies. If he isnt on the roster as the Leafs backup next season he’d be foolish to not request a race.

Yep, they need to start to get serious about player safety. Enough with the 1-3 game suspensions, start handing out 10 games with no pay on a regular basis is and the nonese will die off

Yeah. You make a matchup line, and then all the other lines are kinda the same. If you can't make 4 solid lines, then you keep the bad one off the ice as much as possible.

There doesn't seem to be much "this line does this... and this line does that..." anymore.

With the 3 games in 3 days, it looks like rest days for Liljegren and Borgman on D. Borgman obviously could use it after the hit he took last night, and Sosh looks to be getting his 4th game of his conditioning stint today.

Anyone who has watched the Marlies lately have began to see the potential in Jeremy Bracco I’ve been praising since before he was drafted
