Saw this elsewhere but it pertained to the drafts in all sports. I don’t care about them. The NHL one is the one that matters.
My call is that, theoretically, the purpose of the draft to help the poorer teams improve. That has my support. What irks me is when clubs that are not in dire straights get to jump ahead of those that are. That should not happen. Even a jump of ten slots for a team that barely missed the POs defeats the purpose of the draft. I get the need for having a lottery in order to curtail tanking. However there are too many team’s getting the opportunity to benefit that don’t deserve it. Maybe the lottery should only include the bottom six to eight clubs.
