Brad Ross was a solid pick.

But let's fast forward a bit to what the future could look like:

-Phil Kessel as the offensive guy.

-Tyler Bozak as the playmaker

-Viktor Stalberg as the speedster

-Nik Kulemin(barring a trade)as the do it all guy

-Brad Ross in the agitator role.

-Nazem Kadri as the skilled/scoring bully.

-Caputi, Hanson, and Irwin rounding out the bottom six.

-Jamie Devane as the enforcer.

-D'Amigo as the complimentary player on any line.

-Phil Paradis as the #4 center.

-Didomenico as the spare part/role player.

Now granted, not all of these guys will all make the show. But still it's something to project, and project nicely when you think about what the future of the Leafs forwards will look like. (and I didn't even include a guy like Stefanovich).

Will obvioulsy change from trades/signings/busts but this could be the future:

Kadri-Bozak-Kessel
D'Amigo-Mckegg-Kulemin
Ross-Dido-Caputi
Brown/Devane-Hanson-Orr
Stalberg

Am I missing anyone?

Paradis is a winger (a power forward in the making - Gary Roberts type of player).
And forget about Stefanovitch, absolutely unable to play the high octane north american style.

Didomenico is better than some fans are recognizing. Assuming he isn't slowed by that very nasty broken leg, he'll be Leaf for sure in the future. He's just too competitive, dedicated and smart to fail.

I think mckegg is going to be working on his offensive talent as d. morrison said and i really think ondre will be a long term talent if he projects what we want....

I would suggest:

Potential Top Line Players:
Kessel & Kadri

Potential 2nd Line Offensive Players:
Stalberg, Bozak, Caputi, McKegg

Potential 2 way players - can play top 9, either 2nd / 3rd line and fill a need with more than just offense:
Kulemin (I know people will scream - I love him, but he's a 2 way guy who can check on the 3rd line, or compliment your offensive guys on the top two lines - lets just say "he goes both ways", lol), Ross, Dido, Irwin, Ryan

Boom or Bust - guys with top end potential but may never reach it:
Olden, Stefanovich

Bottom 6 Potential / Role players - with the outside chance of finding an offensive game:
Hanson, Paradis

The rest, I think are pretty much support guys.

Well done, thank you snizzb0ne, the perfect example of why 'who do you project to be' is a mugs game.

5 years later were doing the same thing with prospects from this draft.

Although our prospect pool has grown leaps and bounds. Even though it's hindsight that was one terrible group.

You can do that 5 years' later with almost every NHL team's prospect list. If we get 3 NHL players in the future from this recent "draft floor domination", we will have done well.
