I think it's pretty good, however, based on the players' play and from what I've seen, I would have Fowler at #2 and Seguin at #3 and Kabanov at #4.

No Gudbranson? Seguin at 7th overall? Not sure what Pulkkinen has done so far to be ranked ahead of his fellow countrymen Mikael Granlund who is having a great start in the SM-Liiga

I would expect Gudbranson wont fall out of the top ten. Too much potential. Love to see him end up in Ottawa somehow, hometown captain would be nice sometime in the next decade lol.

Hows this years top 10 shaping up compared to recent years? Pretty strong it seems.

Not a bad top 10. Can't disagree much with it, except that I don't see Pulkkinen being a top 10 guy right now.

For what it is worth (and I know I have posted this a couple of times already), my top 10 right now looks like this:

1 Hall
2 Seguin
3 Fowler
4 Kabanov
5 McFarland
6 Gormley
7 Gundbranson
8 Burmistrov
9 Granlund
10 Connolly

Lots of hockey left to be played though, and names like Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Pulkkinen, Hishon, Galiev, and Pysyk will all make pushes to be in top 10 consideration.

Seguin is too low, but I don't think he'll eventually come back to Earth.

My top 10

1 Hall
2 Kabanov
3 Fowler
4 Gudbranson
5 Seguin
6 Connolly
7 McFarland
8 Gormley
9 Pulkkinen
10 Granlund

HM: Tarasenko, Galiev, Hishon and Burmistrov

I don't have much faith in defensemen coming from the Q, Pulkkinen isn't as impressive as Granlund, but I can see Mikael dropping (ala Schroeder) due to his lack of size.

Would I be correct in these assessments (I have only seen Connolly, Fowler, and Hall):

1. Hall- first line talent, some two-way game, relatively safe bet. Franchise forward potential.
2. Cam Fowler- Top pairing d-man, safe bet. #1 or even franchise potential.
3. Kabanov- Elite forward, somewhat risky, russian factor. Franchise forward potential
4. Seguin- First line forward, relatively safe bet, not as known as Hall. Franchise forward potential.
5. Gormley- Top pairing d-man, excellent puck-mover. #1 or franchise PMD potential.
6. Gundbranson- Top pairing d-man, has it all including size. #1 potential, maybe not quite franchise.
7. Connolly- #1 winger.
8. Granlund- 1st line center, extremely talented, smallish? Probably knocked for being European. Could be the best player, but is a bit more risky due to size.
9. Pulklinen- #1 winger, see Grandlund?
10. McFarland- #1 F, speed, excellent shot, intangibles? 1st line forward, but not as much high end skill as those ahead of him.
11-13. Taransenko, Galiev, and Burmistrov- 1st line talent, but not on Kabanov's level, causing them to possibly fall due to the Russian factor?

That tends to be the sense I am getting from reading about these guys. If that is the case, this seems to be an extremely good top 10, to the point that I feel maybe the ceilings I am putting on these guys are too high.

McFarland is a top 5 pick but if connolly and seguin keep it up he'll stay at 7th and no lower

Seguin is second in my eyes. The kid is better now and was better last year then MacFarland. Fowler has some wholes that need to be worked....These are not little ones either.

I think Seguin is going to give Hall a run for his money at #1.

This has got to be atleast the 3rd time I see that Windsor scores 5+ goals in a game and figure Hall put up a ton of points but only got like 0 or 1. Good for Windsor, probably bad for him. Hall had just 1 assist in tonight's 8-5 victory. Seguin now has 2 more points that Hall in 2 less games. In fact, Hall only has 1 assist in Windsor's 2 highest scoring games (Windsor scored 8 goals each game) In Plymouth's 2 highest scoring games (7 goals and 9 goals) Seguin had a hat trick in each game and 3 assists. Just thought that was interesting. Atleast Hall isn't having bad games when they need him to score.

Tarasenko easily a top 10, and kuznetsov very close. It's easy over value Fowler, Sequin ect.. because they are playing well right now for good CHL teams under our very noses, and stats might be a bit inflated. Just because you don't hear much about the other guys doesn't mean they aren't playing well right now... Doesn't matter anyways, I'm sure these guys (Tarasenko, Kuznetsov) will make an impact at the WJC in December, kind of like an official coming out party.

If Seguin played for a more visible team he would be talked about being equal to Hall.
Seguin IMHO would be harder to neutralize than Hall in the NHL.

Agreed. Seguin has more poise than Hall, and is a lot more creative with the puck. Sometimes he has a tendency to hold on to it too long and cause bad turnovers, but it's something he'll work on. With that being said, after talking to our other guys, here's a Top 15 for October we produced last night...

1. LD Cam Fowler (Windsor - OHL)
2. RC Tyler Seguin (Plymouth - OHL)
3. LW Taylor Hall (Windsor - OHL)
4. LW Kirill Kabanov (Moncton - QMJHL)
5. RD Erik Gudbranson (Kingston - OHL)
6. LD Brandon Gormley (Moncton - QMJHL)
7. LC Mikael Granlund (HIFK - SM-Liiga)
8. LW Brett Connolly (Prince George - WHL)
9. LW John McFarland (Sudbury - OHL)
10. RW Vladimir Tarasenko (Sibir - KHL)
11. LW Teemu Pulkkinen (Jokerit - SM-Liiga)
12. RW Evgeni Kuznetsov (Traktor - KHL)
13. G Jack Campbell (US U18 NTDP)
14. LW Quinton Howden (Moose Jaw - WHL)
15. RD Troy Rutkowski (Portland - WHL)

Question to anyone that follows the SM-Liiga a lot, which wing has Pulkkinen been playing on mostly this year?

In your discussion with the other guys about this list, did Burmistrov's name come up? And if so, whereabouts would you put him? Obviously you don't see him as a top 15 guy, but is at least a first rounder?

Well Sweden sucks 2010 :(

Maybe not the top end talent like we saw from 2009, that's for sure. But 2011 is already looking much better for you guys. In fact, I bet you will have the first overall pick in the 2011 draft.
