No idea for the Caps. I don't have the attnetion span to try and figure this all out logistically (ie with realistic salary and contract info) but I'll give it a shot

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Zubrus
Semin - Bouchard - Fehr
Clymer - Sutherby - Laich
Bourque - Gordon - Clark

Morrisonn - Eminger
Green - Pothier
Pokulok - Dovgan
Schultz

Kolzig
Varlamov

Ovechkin-Zubrus-Fleischmann
Semin-Backstrom-Fehr
Pettinger-Sutherby-Clark
Clymer-Gordon-Laich

Eminger-Morrisonn
Pothier-Green
Pokulok/Lepisto/Schultz-UFA

There's no room for Bourque at this point since Clymer and Pettinger are signed for the next two seasons. Niklas is a natural choice to fill void at center. I think Fehr will definitely make the team due to the weakness at RW--an inherent advangtage to him. Pettinger, Sutherby and Clark form a logical 3rd line that can probably chip in almost 50 goals.

There's definitely a logjam at defense, which will give us tradeable assets while holding on to the cream of the crop.

Green is the only one that I think GMGM wouldn't offer up in a trade at this point. The next one to prove his worth is safe, but that still leaves 3 quality defensive prospects to use as bait (three of Pokulok, Lepisto, Schultz, McNeill and Finley).

For Columbus, it'll be a bit difficult as we have a grand total of 4 players signed for 08-09. I'll guess on prospects, but I'm sure there will be free agents signed to fill in a few spots.

Nash ($5.4 million) - Brule ($850,000) - Zherdev ($2.2 million)
Picard ($1.5 million) - Brassard ($900,000) - Pineault ($850,000)
Lindstrom ($800,000) - Malhotra ($1.2 million) - Fritsche ($800,000)
Pohl ($550,000) - Dupuis ($650,000) - Goertzen ($550,000)

Klesla ($1.65 million) - Johnson ($700,000)
Hainsey ($1.1 million) - Westcott ($1.3 million)
Russell ($850,000) - Tollefsen ($700,000)
Methot ($600,000)

Leclaire ($3 million)
Popperle ($650,000)

The Jackets will definitely have at least one free agent on the second line, probably in place of Pineault. Move Pineault down the 4th line RW, Lindstrom down to the 4th line LW, and add a free agent to the 3rd line. Also, the D will have at least 2 free agents, likely bumping Methot or Russell back to the AHL.

Wow!!! We are going to be in GREAT cap shape in a few years. :yo:

Ill try the Canucks
Sedin-Sedin-(High-priced free agent)
Raymond-Morrison-Grabner(possibly the fastest line in the NHL)
Shirokov-Chubarov-Hansen
Burrows-Reid-Linden

Ohlund-Bourdon
Salo-Kraijek
Mitchell-Edler

Luongo
Schnieder

Canucks D are full of potential stars to go along with a VERY speedy forward group. Also, I am banking on Shirokov to breakout and be a significant piece of Canucks future.

You really think our two Russian prospects are going to both break into the lineup like that? And paying Jamie Langenbrunner 2.8M to play on the 4th line?

As much as I would like it, I don't think we retain Scott Gomez past next year. Leaves the dearth of a top flight center, with Parise and Zajac still developing. I could see something like this:

Parise-Elias-Gionta
Tallackson-Zajac-Bergfors
Pandolfo-Madden-Langenbrunner
Brylin-Vrana-Janssen

Clarkson/Ryznar/Rupp

Rafalski-White
Martin-Greene
Hale-Corrente

Fraser/Eckford/Albelin

Broduer
Doyle
Frazee
Parise

I could see Madden and Zajac switching lines, and Rupp in place of Vrana on the fourth. Elias can play center, and has in various times in the past. The other interesting thing is that it seems like we have a few too many foward prospects; Stephen Gionta, Zharkov, Vasyunov, Foster, Voros, and Pihlman are all left in Lowell, or wherever the team is at that point.

Filppula, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Kopecky, Hudler, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Markov, Lebda, Quincey, Holmstrom, Williams, Samuelsson, Franzen, Howard, Liv, Cleary

Hudler (1mil)-Zetterberg (2.65)-Samuelsson (1.2)
Grigorenko (.8)-Datsyuk(6 mil)-Williams (1.6)
Franzen (1 mil)-Filppula (.75)-Kopecky (.75)
Holmstrom (1.5)-Draper (1.5)-Cleary (.7)
Bootland (.6)

Forwards 20mil

Kronwall (3)-Lids (7.6)
Markov (2.5)-Schneider (2.5)
Lebda (.65)-Quincey (.65)

Defense 16.9mil

Howard (2)
Liv (1)

Goalie 3 mil

Total 39.9 mil

What a strange lineup to see. I honestly don't think Schneider will still be with the Wings then, but the rules where make up a roster with only your players. Only 2 players on the roster from the "Great" Wing years.

Here we have in two years:

-Yashin bought out?
-Trent Hunter being let go or traded?--He's a guy I'd use as a piece to the puzzle.
-Too early for Okposo to be a top 6'er?
-O'Marra progresses that much, that quickly to be our TOP line center, replacing Yash?
-Sillinger was signed to 3 years. Traded, probably?

I see it as and boy this is difficult:

Bergenheim-Yash-Nilsson
Tambellini-O'Marra-Satan
Comeau-Nokelainen-Hunter
Marjamaki-Colliton-Asham

Zhitnik-Grebeshkov
Campoli-Gervais
Witt-??

DiPietro
Doobs

forgot about Hunter, but yeah I can see O'Marra being a top-line guy if he has those kinds of weapons around him. He is pretty good offensively himself, and will be able to make up for the defensive lapses of his wingers. I can see Okposo being with the big club in 08 if he progresses enough during his first 2 years in the organization. For a 7th overall pick, I wouldn't say that is too farfetched. As for Yashin, I guess that's just wishful thinking. And Sillinger, I don't expect him to be very effective by that 3rd year, and we'll have a few centers in the organization that will be ready to contribute(and contribute more than Sillinger at THAT point). How about this:

Tambellini-Nilsson-Yashin
Hunter-O'Marra-Satan
Bergenheim-Nokelainen-Comeau
Marjamaki-Colliton-Asham

Zhitnik-Grebs
Campoli-Gervais
O'Neil-Witt

DiPi
Doobs

**By this time I expect Tambellini to be a legit first line option. I have real high expectations for him. I also expect Nilsson to be switched to a playmaking center. We'll have what should be a deadly first line, and defensively responsible, yet offensive 2 and 3 lines, with the 4th line being very defensive with a bit of offense. Defense is a question-mark, but I expect FA to fix that problem by this point in time. This team, with Okposo, Guthrie, Joensuu and Kohn waiting in the wings, should be pretty competitive.

Demitra - Pouliot - Gaborik
Bouchard - Koivu - Parrish
Clutterbuck - Walz - Irmen (GOD! I wouldn't want to face this line)
Sheppard - Bailey - Voloshenko
Boogaard

Johnsson - Burns
Schultz - Thelen
Belle - Stoner
Aiello

Harding
Westblom/Khudobin/Hovinen

Minnesota has a stacked roster of grinders and aggitators. We have some great offensive ability in Voloshenko, Pouliot, Gaborik, Demitra, and Bouchard. We got a few bangers in Voloshenko, Parrish, Sheppard. Walz is going to still be around. I would NOT want to face this team personally. Especially with three hard workers on the shutdown line. Clutterbuck - Walz - Irmen makes me shudder at how much this team would aggitate and piss off other teams.

Stop counting Chubarov in. We're going to have to pay him at least 2 mil to give him what he gets in Russia, Tax free. And Salo will probably be gone (NOoooooooooooo) with Edler being paired up with Rahimi in the second/third pairing, in 2/3 years time.

In my opinion, Grabner would actually work well with the Sedins, as he's very good at finding open spaces, as well as processing speed and skill in spades. Hansen would be a better fit on the second line. The wildcards, as you say, are Juraj Simek and also Sergei Shirokov. I think that Simek could really be something here, but that remains to be seen.

Course the only problem would be the 4 Russians on this team. Imagine the contract holdouts.

I don't think Corrente will be ready in two years, I can see Fraser and Eckford beating him to the big team. I think we'd sign a vet dman in the mean time because I doubt Fraser and Eckford will both make it. The 4th line actually doesn't look that bad.

1A Sedin-Sedin-Grabner
1B Naslund(C)-Morrison(A)-UFA
2A Cooke-Kesler(A?)-Hansen
3A Burrows-Butcher-Brown

1A: Grabner would bring speed, an ability to get open and finishing ability to the line. He would finish the chances the Sedins create, while also using his speed to create more time and space for the Twins, while also making the line more of a threat on the Rush (Sedins ability on the rush is underated). If they are together on the PK, Grabner could be a great Short Handed scoring threat.

1B: I have Naslund still on the team out of respect, but I have a feeling that unless this team has some sort of success in the coming seasons he might just retire, or try to reunite with Bertuzzi down in Florida. Still, I think him, Forsberg, and Lidstrom will be thinking of going back to MoDo at some point to try to win the team a championship.

I think that one of Pyatt, Chouinard or Bulis might still be around, and my money would be on Pyatt staying.
