Dynamo Kharkov officially folds.

"This year, the Dynamo will not be claimed in PHL due to lack of funding. The club will continue to function in the next year only children's section," - said the honorary president of the Kharkiv Dynamo Mikhail Dobkin.

also it says
со временем стало известно, что Патриот прекращает свое существование, а в Сокола в составе пока нет ни одного игрока

apprently Sokil has nobody signed???? jesus christ just sell the franchise for the name and history alone to an ownership group that wants to make it into a KHL team. enough of this bush league bull ****

start of the season is delayed into october...this is sad

other news, Kharkiv Avangard wants to play in the Championship, I guess this is if the FHU takes back the championship from the PHL and they have a separate pro/amateur playoffs

The preliminary draft Ukrainy-2013/14 championship scheduled to attend the seven groups : Kiev "Kompanyon-Naftogaz", "Generals" and "Falcon", Bilotserkivskyi "White Leopard" Lviv "Leviv" as well as teams from Kharkiv and Simferopol.

The final list of participants, and a calendar of events will be approved on October 7. It is known that the competition will be held under the auspices of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine.

7 teams this year looking like, needs to be ratified

HC Kompanion-Naftogaz (Kyiv)
HC Sokil Kyiv
Generals HC (Kyiv)
Bilyi Bars (Bila Tserkva)
HC Levy (Novoyavorivsk)
Kharkiv (?)
Simferopol (?)

not sure who the kharkiv team is, Avangard wanted in a bit ago and the HC Levy site used the old Kharkov HC logo so who knows

I hope Kharkiv will have a team, I will be in the area in the near future. Might have a chance to see a game.

if you're able to see a phl game, be sure to take some pics!

Yeah sure, I did the same when I went to a Czech league game last year. I posted the photos in the Czech board too.

I'm actually going to be in Belgorod Russia, Kharkiv is only an hour bus/train ride (plus border wait) away. Belgorod also has an MHL-B team, I am curious to see the team from Moldova and Lithuania.

does the PHL even exist anymore? news articles seem to be referring to the season solely as the Ukrainian Championship. I realize that the FHU took the Championship away from the PHL, and it seems amateur teams are going to play in it (ex: Kyiv Generals) but is the PHL defunct now? Wish we could get more answers

BUT WE HAVE NEWS TODAY!

http://isport.ua/hockey/ukraine/news/268842.html

Levy doesn't want to play in Novoyavorivsk anymore, and I don't blame them. Rumor says they want to move to Bila Tserkva and share the arena with the Leopards. WTF? They already confirmed participation in the league but wtf is the point if they aren't going to be in lviv region at all?

http://bighockey.ua/news/simferopol-ne-zigraye-u-chempionati-ukrayini.html

Simferopol team folds / wont play, they couldnt get a team together. They have an IIHF approved arena. Why not move Levy there for the year? You're not going to grow hockey in Ukraine by keeping everyone in Kyiv...

anyway

SEASON DELAYED AGAIN

Right now, only Kompanion-Naftogaz and the Leopards (Bars) are fully signed up by the october 8th deadline. What a disgrace. Obviously they are the only two with real money behind them but still, come on.

season starts oct 28

http://bighockey.ua/news/ukrayinski-vorotari-otrimayut-praktiku.html
http://isport.ua/hockey/ukraine/news/269522.html

- ukrainian goaltenders must have at least 35% playing time
- 7 foreigner limit
- unlimited foreigners if they are born in 1990 or younger (i guess this is part of the nationalizing push to catch a sleeper)
- 35 man roster max - must have 5 ukrainians 1994 or younger
- 5 teams: Kompanion-Naftogaz, Sokil, White Leopards, Levy, Haydamaky

From what I understand, the PHL is dead in the water, this is pure FHU run and operated.

http://bighockey.ua/news/gaydamaki-ciliy-rik-pracyuvali-nad-povernennyam.html
haydamaky says it'll be a young roster, minimal salary, experienced goaltender(s); hopefully they do a good job at developing the kids!
