Sucks about John Shannon, always liked him. Nick Kypreos on the other hand, I can't stand him. I'm not sure what it is, I think it's a mixture of a lot of things.

Both will land on their feet relatively quickly, Pierre LeBrun being let go from ESPN was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to him. I can see John Shannon finding a job pretty much anywhere in hockey media. I can see Kypreos trying to start a podcast or some **** like that

Kypreos is a major tool.

Longtime Coyotes supporter John Shannon is out at Sportsnet. So too is Nick Kypreos.
Kypreos is an all-time Coyote hater. Dropped this nugget April 13, 2011 before Game 1 Coyotes-Detroit....Coyotes were swept and Bryz couldn't stop a beach ball.

“For the record I was told the Pho deal to keep team is “all but dead” and an announcement “could” come as soon as their play-off run is over.”

Ha ha, Kypreos was at Sportsnet 21 years apparently. We lasted longer than he did!

Ironic that that casino is on the wrong end of the Strip. The Westgate of casinos. I'm sure it's nice and all but there is nothing around it. Stratosphere is kind of close, and the dumpy Circus Circus, but it's on the wrong end of the Strip. Let's see if Meruelo can make it work.

How close is it to the monorail that runs down the strip?

From reading a few articles a while back, there's other new development going in the north strip.

A few details are in this new article...

SLS to officially make change to Sahara Las Vegas on Thursday

Sand Storm is extremely hokey and lame IMO. Oooh we're all...beige...watch out! It's a sandstorm! The idea makes me cringe like all of that Carolina Hurricanes stuff. Feels forced, and cheesy.

All black would be awesome. Has the added benefit of simply being the opposite of the Winnipeg tradition. Need to do black Kachinas for all 41 home games, and a Blackout for all playoff home games.

I love the blackout idea too, but if I recall some team (can’t remember who, maybe Pittsburgh) suggested it to the league, and the idea was nixed, since it was reasonably concluded that having all black crowd would affect on-ice play, as players would lose site of the puck, every-time it bounced above eye-level.

He's already made it work. He said it's already turning a profit.

IIRC, there are two monorails - one connects Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo) to The Cosmopolitan. I think the other Monorail gets as far as the Sahara. I believe that the two destinations as last stops are between Sahara and MGM Grand.

If Sahara is not the stop, then it drops you at the hotel south of Sahara (Westgate, I think). All that I know is that I need to go back to Vegas to be more informed on things like this (and to judge which Crazy Horse - 1, 2, or 3 - is best)

He was talking about the old Harrah’s in Reno.

It was the old MGM Grand - Reno, later bought by Bally’s then sold to whomever changed the name to Grand Sierra Resort.

I worked there in the late 80’s. ;)

Place stands out by itself just north of Reno-Tahoe Intl. Airport. In fact all the ILS gear sits on top of the hotel’s tower and pilots use the tower as a landmark for lining up to the main runway.

When it opened in 1978 it boasted the largest casino floor in the world. First real “mega resort” built in the Reno-Sparks area.

Ta-da!
Route Map | Official Las Vegas Monorail Map

There's also on the west side of the strip the Excalibur-Mandalay Bay tram, the Monte Carlo-Bellagio, and the TI-Mirage....
Las Vegas Monorails | Vegas.com

It's a crime that the taxi lobby has/had for so long prevented that monorail from continuing to the airport, which is why I think it's delicious that they got disrupted by Uber/Lyft.
