Nice strawman. You are trying to claim that playing a tight game against a European team is something we should be concerned with. I never claimed we were the same as the Hawks, the point is that you can find little meaning in these games against Euro teams based on the track record.

i’m actually not claiming that we should be concerned about it. i’m saying that we better hope we’re able to get some secondary scoring this year, like the hawks did when they beat hc davos 9-2 earlier that week

Outside of that game, which I didn't watch but heard we played well, we did not look like a sharp squad.

No one can be honest and say they are not even a tad concerned.

That's not my point. DD was being annoying with his "Oh woe is me. I did not get to see the game" so I "helped" him.

I remember we were pretty mediocre in the 2011 preseason and even got blown out by the Islanders in one of those games. I only reference that preseason because it was the last year we won a playoff series.

The Oilers and Islanders combined went like 11-2-2 in the preseason last year and they both missed the playoffs.

I think the preseason is more important for teams that had a lot of changes. You look at this roster and outside of Quenneville and Dea it's pretty much exactly the same as last year. Most of our improvement is going come from within as our young players continue to mature.

If we're a couple weeks into the season and things look off, go ahead and worry. But to be worried based off of meaningless games with mixed rosters of vets who aren't going 100%, AHL players and prospects, none of whom are up to game speed or have their timing back yet is worrying for the sake of worrying.
