So with the Stanley Cup Finals starting on Monday, I figured it would be a lot of fun to look at perspectives of the Knights before October 1st and how the masses (Including most of us) have been wrong about this team. Below are some of the links to articles and HF threads to show how much different things were 11 months ago today. We all know how this team beat everyone's expectations and no one predicted this team would be any good, but let's see exactly what people said about GMGM's selections & this team going into the season. I'll admit I was a doubter right after the expansion draft. But as soon as I saw you guys play my Blues I knew the Golden Knights were the real deal. It's been a pleasure watching this team this season and especially these playoffs. I'm picking Knights in 6. I said Knights in 6 vs the Jets and we won that in 5 so lets hope we get a repeate of that so we can see the cup drive down the Vegas Strip.

This should seal the Knights' fate for finishing dead last and earning the best lottery odds for the first pick in 2018 (although you never know with the Avalanche still in the league)....

I'll own up as well: I was convinced our blue line would suck. That Fleury would face a non-stop barrage of high quality shots and this would be a shootout type team that dropped a lot of games due to it. I wasn't just wrong, but off by a damn mile. And while I still think our blue line is the team's biggest weakness relatively speaking, I'm really happy to be that far off the mark.

The D core was what I thought would be the Knights downfall as well. The forward group looked solid if not spectacular; obviously no one saw Wild Bill's emergence coming, but Neal, Marcheassault, and Smith all had success elsewhere, and there was good depth at every position. I thought Lindberg would do more, I'm surprised he didn't put up some points. Fleury seemed like he'd be an above average starter, though I'd didn't think he'd have a Vezina level season.

The blue line looked rough though. None of them were really bad, but tbh I didn't see any 1st pairing guys in that group, and it's not like many were slam dunk top 4 guys either. But yeah, WRONG lol.

Damn it now you've got me watching season 1 highlights again... Still sends shivers down my spine. Even now I'm not sure even winning the cup will compare to the magic of that season.
