On Hovens podcast they said Quick was coached to modify his technique and crouch less because of his age / injury history.

But he’s not following the advice during some games when the goals are pouring in. And he reverts to his old style, instead of following the new program.

He’s in a platoon situation right now, so next step is full time backup, probably by around the outdoor game.

Ah yeah, the classic practice of holding a healthy goalie out an entire season to practice and calling up a third goalie?

The guys are splitting starts until one can emerge. I don't see why that's so controversial when they both suck and even Petersen got rocked in Ontario recently.

There's no cavalry on the way to save this team's G position from itself. Better off letting Quick and Campbell implode.

Not the entire season...just the year. Splitting starts probably won't help anyone...they're not likely to improve.

Doesn't really make sense. Why would we exchange Quick for a guy who has struggled for even longer yet has a higher cap hit AND a higher salary? One year shorter, but I feel like everyone around the org respects Quick enough that even if you consider the deal equal it's pointless. Change of scenery for both guys?

Maybe? Dunno....I think for the one year shorter?

If the offense dries up like it probably will, we will be worse than last year. We have a 6 million dollar goalie that can't "crouch", forwards with more dogs than goals and vet players we are trying to make "comfortable".

With that kind of frustration at practice, have to wonder if he's not revealing an injury, or if his body just won't cooperate from previous injuries.

In Quick's game against Vegas, to me he looked hurt. He was constantly using his left hand to push on his left knee to get upright.
That reminds me of when I had a back sprain. Either he is injured or his last back surgery didn't work too well.

Quick is here until at least June. As Bob said, he is untradeable, certainly at the moment. At most, he gets Lundqvist'd. Then either buy him out, or trade one of the other two. There's just no other options until 2023.

I thought it would take 20 or so games to figure out our goalie situation but it seems like the decision has been made already. Quick is a backup, struggling and possibly not 100% healthy.
The only issue is how do we handle him?

If it's an injury maybe put him on LTIR.
Can we waive him and send him to the minors?
Buyout this summer? Cap hits are ugly.
Keep him and pay Seattle to pick him up at the expansion draft? What do we do with Peterson\Campbell next year?

He has to actually be injured
Can we waive him and send him to the minors?
Yes but his cap hit - the nhl minimum salary still counts

Buyout this summer? Cap hits are ugly.
It isn't that bad actually

Keep him and pay Seattle to pick him up at the expansion draft?
That will cost assets better used elsewhere

What do we do with Peterson\Campbell next year?
Petersen will likley be the starter and if I were dictator, I would slip Campbell at the deadline
