As we don't have enough Trouba threads going, I thought I'd start a new one. I'll put in some contract options and let everyone make their prediction. This is not what you think he should get, but what you think he will get.

I'll stick with my earlier prediction of 4 years and 6-6.5m

That is about like 8x9-10, IMO. Huge $$$ for only 4 years, 2 RFA + only 2 UFA. Might not be too bad for 6 years. JMO.

Edit: I'll stick with 5x5.75 until something else happens. :)

Top 30 Defensemen Average: 9.76% PCATS
Top 30 Defensemen Average: $7.8M AAV (adjusted for $79.5M cap ceiling)

If you look at the Top 30 D who have never been nominated for (or won) the Norris, signing their deals as RFAs (i.e. "buying RFA years" on the contract), their average adjusted cap hit is $7M:

PCATSadjAAV
Ekblad10.27%8 x $8.16M
Pietrangelo10.11%8 x $8.04M
Myers8.55%7 x $6.80M
Bogosian8.00%7 x $6.36M
Leddy7.97%7 x $6.34M
Hamilton7.88%6 x $6.26M
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

So 7 x $7M for Trouba would be right around the mark.

I think it'll be a bit less for a shorter term...so 4-5 years at $6.5M - $7M.

I think Trouba keeps it to 5 years so he hits UFA while still in his 20's potentially lining him up for one more massive contract. This brings the AAV under 7 which can work for the Jets, but I still think he's 6.5+ AAV.

4x5.5 and becomes a rfa like all his peers in 4 years. 5.75 tops if he signs. Still thinking he wants out and goes to arb hearing.

He's probably going to get $5M in arbitration - so why would he ever sign a 4 year deal for $5.5M?

IF Seth jones gets 5.5 for 4 more years so should trouba if you factor in inflation over the last 2 years. Otherwise he would get around 5 per. Is he getting 5 million in arbitration . He was making 3.5 last year.

if he gets 1 year he better get nothing more than 5
I usually dont wish for bad things on people and hope only for the best, but whatever conflcitions are going on with trouba, it's doing more harm to the team than good

I'd give him is 6.5 if it it was for longer than 3 years, but apparently the jets are offering him 4 mil for a bridge deal which is absolutely far considering he's trying to leave

if you're trying to leave why would you expect to give you top dollar lol

Pretty shitty by him if he really is setting things up for an early exit, which I do think he’s aiming at. He’s playing good minutes for a true contender who finished second in the entire league. How many defenders wouldn’t want that?

I know you're supposed to look out for yourself first so I won't hold that against him, but like you said he's in a pretty good position. some cooperation would be nice

What you think we could get. Legitimately.
Hanifin plus Lindholm package would've been nice start ;)
What you would get is another player with a expiring contract in 2 years maybe 3 but not as good. Why would anybody pay more for someone leaving in 2 years.

That is the question that Chevy will have to figure out, are there a few GM's that really covet a d man like Trouba, the more that want he the better the deal that Chevy can make, personally I would love for Trouba to sign long term, I think that him and Jomo could be something real special on the blue line but sometimes you have to fish or cut bait with a player.

Unless he’s traded to one of the teams he’d like to sign with, no?
