I still don't think they are that bad. They are a bottom third of the league team. And any team that is a bottom third team would struggle against this schedule. Do we see a more difficult stretch for the rest of the season? I haven't really looked at the schedule, but I doubt it.
Yeah, I noticed the schedule and I'll regurgitate my relevant point from one of my tank thread posts:Wow, this is my first time really looking at the first block of the schedule. That's ****ing brutal...
I thought the team might show a bit of jump early on before the grind of reality sets in, but it seems that will happen from the jump. Without getting into the nuances of regulation and OT, I see about 4 wins there. There are a few opponents in our punching reach: Florida, Columbus (with the injuries and RyJo rusty), Toronto, and Carolina. I say they get at least two of those. Another two against those top-notch opponents doesn't seem wholly unreasonable. You can pretty well bank on at least one.
I'll say 3-6-2 in October.I'm also not the type to huff-and-puff that they're ruining the tank with wins if they somehow manage to start 2014-15 with a .500+ October, as that means someone's scoring. However, I look at the early schedule and see eight of eleven matchups versus 2014 playoff teams, including five Western Conference opponents, and I think any realist would chalk the majority of those up as losses. Further, November isn't any easier with ten of fourteen versus playoff teams, so by December, we could be out of contention again and distracting ourselves by monitoring player/prospect development, draft eligibles, NYI/STL tanks, or other teams at the bottom. And this is all assuming we're healthy, something we haven't been in recent years, exposing a dire lack of pro depth.
Believe me I never forgot, it's the only thing that kept me sane when I looked at Carolina's roster.Wow, this is my first time really looking at the first block of the schedule. That's ****ing brutal...
You have us beating the Ducks and the Bruins but losing to the Canes? I think we're lucky to get 1 point out of those 2 games.THU OCT 9, 2014 BLUE JACKETS VS SABRES W

Overall record: 6-4-1
3-7-1 sounds right.
Hopefully they can drop one of those wins though.
