You can either wait until the lottery is set or do it now (or change it later after the lottery is set, I don't care). Here's mine:

1. McDavid
2. Eichel
3. Hanifin
4. Strome
5. Marner
6. Rantanen
7. Werenski
8. Barzal
9. Crouse
10. Zacha
11. Provorov
12. Meier
13. Roy
14. Merkley

Winner gets a shiny new donkey.

Tougher to tell right now without knowing the exact order but I think Crouse will go in the top 5 & Hanifin won't be the first defensemen off the board.

I dont want to hijack this thread, but why do you say that (regarding Hanifin)? He is rated either #3 or #4 overall on all the scouting reports.

I can not remember last time the top rated defender isnt taken as the first defender.

Just a suspicion, I don't think everybody's sold on him (mostly due to his offensive upside) despite what the public lists say. He looks primed for a Seth Jones like fall IMO & I wouldn't be too surprised if somebody takes one of Werenski or Provorov over him. I think Werenski has more upside while Provorov is more NHL ready.

I agree here. I have a feeling Hanifin falls in the 6-8 range. If philly picks at 7 and Hanifin is available at 6 I would look to move up and grab him.

Its hard to guess without knowing the order but I could see only one defensemen taken in the top 7 and that could very well be Provorov. Provorov is the riser while Hanifin has been around so long, scouts tend to overthink it. That situation happens a lot.

Buffalo: McDavid
Arizona: Eichel
Edmonton: Strome
Toronto: Marner
Carolina: Provorov
Columbus: Rantanen
New Jersey: Connor

I think the 1st 3 picks will be McDavid, Eichel, and Strome regardless of order. If Edmonton falls to 4, I think they would go defense instead of Marner but I actually think they might go Provorov instead of Hanifin.

Carolina is the one team I have no idea which direction they may go. Once the top 4 forwards are gone, they could go in any direction, maybe even Crouse.

Columbus even though they need a defensemen I think will go Rantanen especially if Provorov is off the board. New Jersey needs a scoring center bad and Lou loves Americans.

That leaves the Flyers, another team that I have no idea which direction they go. If Hextall sticks to his philosophy of building down the middle it would be either a center or defensemen. But the top centers will probably be gone and the teams prospect pool is full of defensemen. What scares me is Crouse is the ultimate Flyers catnip.

The wildcard of the draft is Barzal. He could very well climb into the top 7, pushing defensemen down even further.

If Hanifin falls to Philly they will take him. Hexy wants to build from the back out. Defenders take a long time to develop and pan out less often than forwards do. They will be priority. You can fix a forward crop in 3 years time so that's not really a concern. Elite centre's exist in every draft, great D- men do not.

Carolina or NJ will take Crouse they both are starving at wing. Whereas philly can get by in that area. If Hanifin is taken and Barzel is available Philly will take him unless Provorov is still on board. I think the option for philly right now is Provorov-Greenway, or Barzal- Roy/ Late rising winger who is high 2nd rd material.

Edmonton could take a D-man. They have alternated C and D since 2011 and this year is a D round if the pattern holds. I could see them taking Provorov over Hanifin, just cause that's the MacT thing to do. Problem is, how do you pass on Strome, especially for a team that has a massive lack of top-end centre depth, bith in the pool and on the roster? At least on D they have Nurse, Kelfblom, and Marincin which is enough for now. Not to mention, Ferrance, Shultz and free agency. Plus Simpson isn't a disaster.

Keeping in mind organizational strengths and weaknesses:

01: McDavid (Buffalo)
02: Eichel (Arizona)
03: Hanifin (Edmonton)
04: Strome (Toronto)
05: Marner (Carolina)
06: Rantanen (Philadelphia)

09: Zacha (San Jose)
10: Werenski (Colorado)
11: Crouse (Florida)
12: Roy (Dallas)
13: Meier (Boston)
14: Connor (Los Angeles)

New Jersey is hurting everywhere at Forward. I think they would take Barzal over Crouse. If we get lucky and finish 6th and Carolina takes Crouse, that means we will land Hanifin, Marner or Strome. Hope you are right.

agreed. Unless the Flyers win the lottery, I just cannot see Hextall passing on Hanifin.

I'd be happy if Philly got any of Hanifin, Marner, Zacha, Werenski, Provorov or Barzal at 7th overall.

I wouldn't like Crouse.

Sprong or Konecny (long shot) would be nice with Tampa's pick.

I know what you mean. I haven't seen a great deal of him, but for me, he's not a "wow" player yet. He's solid, excellent in his own zone, dependable and reliable. When you have guys like Marner and Strome in that top five putting up those numbers, it's not hard to see how he could be overlooked. I think his offensive game will come around in time though. I think he's the type of guy you build a defence around and Edmonton would be nuts not to take him if they're at 3 (it is Edmonton though)

I think he's the best defensemen in this class & he'd be my first pick out of all them for the record but I think a team or teams will over think it & have him slide.

With not a single 1st line calibre forward prospect and 3 or 4 good D prospects in their system, I would be shocked if New Jersey drafted a defensemen with their pick. But hey, you did say you were guaranteed to be wrong. ;)
