Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results

every pp is exactly the same ... same strategy , same players. ...
how about you try dumping and chasing a little keep the other team on their goddamn toes ! every time its line up 4 on the line and try to carry it in ..
... try barrie on the PP , try the mik , take mitch off the pp for a bit (hes sucking and doesnt deserve pp time)

maybe try a 2 defense solution.
you have mathews on 1 side , put reilly in the middle and have barrie/muzzy your second best shooter on the other side with AJ in front. are you covering auston or the other side not both.... bomb it every time

even though they scored tonight it was a joke. 1 guy had no stick so it was a 5 on 3 for over 1 minute
we need superhero austin to bail is out every single time.

put your best 4 offensive forwards on PP1

gotta think Nylander is one of them.

Also lets try Barrie and his shot on the top PP. Morgan has been decent but Barrie might bring an extra threat.

That last opportunity on Matthews' goal tonight is the strategy they need to implement. Player movement into the different positions. It backs the defenders off and it gave the Leafs space to make plays that lead to the goals.

Previously zone entries had been an issue but they were better tonight with that. Once they got settled though they were stagnant. Once they started moving, they were dangerous.

Matthews can score from either one of the half boards. Marner can set up players on both sides. Definitely need to use that movement more often

Gameplan: tee-up Matthews in different spots or open him up for a wrister and let no one else shoot. I bet it would convert more often. Sick of Marner's muffins.

I stopped reading after you said take Mitch Marner off the power play. You obviously have zero clue about anything to do with hockey.

Nylander is the set up for the 2nd unit. It makes more sense for the middle role to be someone that can battle like Kadri, Johnsson or Hyman

Should have Barrie and Nylander on that powerplay over Rielly and Johnsson IMO.

Something's gotta give with our powerplay. We've got too many gifted players offensively for it to be as anemic and predictable as it is.

It took them 5 failed powerplays to get to the point of saying "what's the worst that can happen?". Give us another 2-3 1st round losses and we'll change up the lines in the playoffs maybe.

By having two of our own guys in the middle we clog up the centre of the ice. Our bread and butter is passing across the ice from Marner to Matthews but we clog up the middle so that play is almost never a available. Our setup of having two guys in front is tailored to having a big bomb from the point which we don't have. It seems like our PP setup actually goes against our strengths and we setup our weaknesses. It needs to be scrapped and completely overhauled.

Pretty much. At least 75% of the PP shots should come off Matthews’ stick.

    Smart Auston, smart!!

That "moving around and making the PK think" is what makes Boston's PP so deadly. Auston's one-timer is every bit as dangerous as Pasta's too.

Maybe go with this for a minute and forty seconds:

    JT
    Matthews - Nylander - Marner
    Rielly

    or

    JT
    Matthews - Nylander
    Rielly - Marner

1-20 in the 5 games leading into yesterday. 1-7 yesterday. Either fire somebody or change it up. Both Muzzin and Barrie killed on the PP because they fired bombs from the point. Barrie looks like a scared child out there. Set up shots from the point, get somebody to park their fat caboose in front of the net and crash the net.

God it’s so annoying watching this team.
