I think Jersey will go hard for Caufield to play with Hughes!
Caufield is most likely going to go in the top ten. I don't see any assets that would allow the NJ Devils to acquire another top ten pick.

Picks most likely not available: New Jersey, NYR, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, Vancouver
50/50: LA, EDM & ANA
Pick most likely to be traded: Colorado

New Jersey would have to trade Hall to get a top ten pick. No one else on the roster who is older contains much values.

NYI will probably be looking for a top 6 forward at the draft.

I am guessing they will be looking more for a 2nd line center.

I honestly can't see what the Islanders have to offer if they want to move into the top 10 unless they wanted to give up Dobson or Pulock

exactly. This kind of thing just doesn't happen often anymore. top picks are too valuable.

I don’t think they are too valuable. I just think that teams usually like a player too much to trade the pick or the acquiring team has a few players they like still on the board and are ok with any of them

If Montreal could acquire Oilers 8th, with their 15th, could those 2 picks be enough to acquire the 2nd overall?

Not a chance. You could maybe move up as high as 3rd if Chicago isn't married to any one particular in the 3-12 range. 1oa and 2oa aren't moving though.

The Naki
There's potential that somebody like Kadri could be moved at the draft because of the cap crunch and he could potentially bring in a 1st, especially with Nylander doing a decent job as the 3C

That's not the first option though I'd imagine

I can see Detroit trying to move both up and down.

Up to grab Byram, or down if both Byram and Cozens are gone.

Oilers pick is available, were looking to get rid of Lucic so we have to get creative to move him

Oilers : retain 500k-1.0 million AAV on lucic contract (4 years) + 1ST Round pick from team 2

team 2 : retain 2.0-2.5 AAV on Lucic Contract (4 years) + 8th overall

team 3 : Milan Lucic at 3.0 AAV (4 years) + decent assets from Oilers and Team 2 (ex 3rd round picks, decent prospects, good roster players like matt benning, jujhar khara)

IF Chicago holds on to 3OA pick AND takes Byram, I think they make a draft day trade to move Gustafsson for a first round pick before his value risks dropping.

Between Byram, jokiharju, boqvist, beaudin, and krys being all potential players to make the opening night roster gustaffson becomes expendable

Either way, if Gus has a bad season this year, his value drops and he's still likely going to get paid too much to have a down offensive year being an offensive specialist as he is a pending UFA

Conversely is he has another massive year, Hawks might get roped into giving him a $6+ mil contract which they shouldn't do

At some point bodies need to get moved for the youth and with 2 & 7 not looking to go anywhere any time soon, Murphy shouldn't be moved because he's on a very good contract and was our best defender
