Requirements: Skater must have played 150 games, Goaltenders must have played 60 games AND must have been on the roster for some point in 2 seasons.

The time period for qualification is 2000-01 to 2008-09.

Mine:

Thomas Vanek - Daniel Briere - Jason Pominville
Miroslav Satan - Chris Drury - Maxim Afinogenov
Jochen Hecht - Derek Roy - JP Dumont
Adam Mair - Paul Gaustad - Ales Kotalik
Drew Stafford

Jay McKee - Brian Campbell
Toni Lydman - Henrik Tallinder
Alexei Zhitnik - Teppo Numminen
Andrej Sekera, Dmitri Kalinin

Ryan Miller - Marty Biron

Here's the sad thing I noticed: 11 of these forwards, 6 of these defensemen, and both Goaltenders were on the 05-06 Team.

While I like the idea, your criteria limits it to 35 skaters and 4 goalies...and the fact you chose Biron over Hasek...he did win the Vezina in 00/01

Oh C'mon now

Sekera,Smehlik over McKee, Kalinin, Spacek, hell I could make a Case for Numinen and Patrick over those two Sekera never really came into his own on this squad, even though he's proving alot of people wrong now. Smehlik really just dive bombed to awfuiness early in the decade. Kalinin was on of our Best d-men from 01-04.

Let me take a crack at this:

Vanek-Briere-Satan
Hecht-Drury-Pominville
Barnes-Roy-Afinogenov
Dumont-Gaustaud-Grier

Campbell-Zhitnik
Spacek-Tallinder
McKee-Kalinin

Hasek
Miller

seriously?

yea, absolutely and easily over those guys.

McKee is probably the most overrated Sabre of the last 20 years
Kalinin was pretty underwhelming his entire career
Spacek was good

Smehlik never divebombed to awfulness... massively underrated player, and the perfect stay at home partner. He was never appreciated in his day.

your lineup looks like someone who started watching after the 1st lockout... lol

I'm interested why you'd say McKee is overrated. Not that I disagree necessarily but I think he's a viable choice

he'd lead the league in minors in todays game ... i was glad they didn't try to keep him. His skating was terribad, and he was a clutch and grab defender.

Smehlik was fine up until the 01-02. Then he was bad. Then he bounced around between Atlanta/Philly, then he was out of the league.

You are remember the Smehlik from 97-01 that was a steady partner whose footspeed wasn't an issue. Once he got banged up and he slowed down, things didn't end well.

The Bankruptcy Sabres just weren't good teams. There's a reason most of the players on my squad are post lockout teams. There were alot of mediocrity once Hasek left.

McKee was fine in the era he played in. He was great in 05-06 and was probably our most important D-man in the playoffs. I won't argue the game passed him by as his career went on. He still was good for us.

Kalinin was nearly as good as Zhitnik for a few years. I don't think he ever was "as" good as the fans wanted him to be, simply because he was talented as heck and left people wanting more.

I get what you're saying but it's hard to hold it against players that played well given the circumstances they found themselves in

like jason allison was awesome but he wouldn't make the nhl today, that doesn't invalidate what he did

Nice. But under my qualifications, Peca, Grier, and Myers don't qualify.

I know, but all played in either the 99/2000 season or the 09/2010 season, should still technically be the 2000's IMHO. Could also count Andreychuk.
