36.) Berggren
37.) Hallander
38.) Marchenko
39.) Tychonick
40.) Kaut

Some changes since the last time I posted one of these, I know it will again the more you dig. But fairly comfortable with a lot of these guys. I think this is a very good draft, so we picked a good year to have the picks we are going to have.

McBain is all ove the map - you have him at #21, while other mock drafts have him dropped to #48 and even lower!

Bob Mckenzie's pre-season ranking had him at #14. He had a pretty good U18 performance for Team Canada after an underwhelming season in the OJHL. Personally I think he will go top 30, especially since this draft lacks centers.

Doing this a bit differently. Here's my top ten minus either guys I think will be gone before we pick (either 1st) or that I don't want us to draft. Basically works out to a short list the guys I'd like to see us take in the first:

1) Oliver Wahlstrom
2) Adam Boqvist
3) Ty Smith
4) Akil Thomas
5) Joel Farabee
6) Joe Veleno
7) Dominik Bokk
8) Martin Kaut
9) Barrett Hayton
10) Ryan McLeod

I haven't watched enough of the euros (or the Q for that matter) to give a full, first-round list. If I was drafting for Detroit, this would be my list for the top-half of the first round.

1. Dahlin
2. Svechnikov
3. Boqvist (if and only if he did not have a second concussion at the U18s)
4. Hughes
5. Dobson
6. Tkachuk
7. Zadina
8. Bouchard
9. Wahlstrom
10. Kotkaniemi
11. Hayton
12. Denisenko
13. Smith
14. Farabee

If he does go in top 30 that will certainly raise a few eyebrows among his harsher critics - I personally have always felt he is a first round pick, yet I have always thought teams will hold until early in the second to get him, since there has been little consensus on where he fits in this draft.

I think after 14 is when things get really dicey and there is a lot more variation in opinions. Usually I find that 20-40 there is not much of a difference between prospect quality. I think this year it is more 15-40 and not a great year to be picking in the mid teens.
