1. Gustavsson
2. Brunner
3. Tatar

HM: Kuba Kuba

  1. Kindl looked "realgood"
  2. Cleary and Abby? The usual. It is getting disgusting to watch them drag Pav down
  3. Brunner played his best all-around game of the year tonight
  4. Tatar was a hound on the puck, per usual
  5. Quincey and Smith were both pretty solid

Gustavsson for obvious reasons.

Brunner not for the goal, but he had a couple hits, played on boards and best of all, won a couple battles.

Kindl for being smart with the puck, being quick with the puck and played physical. He made a couple mistakes, but overall one of his best games this year if not his best.

Brunner
Eaves

I thought Eaves played his best game in a LONG time. He was aggressive in front of the net and thus got rewarded with the deflection goal.

Brunner played well defensively, oddly enough. He did well.

Monster was big, solid, and calm. Great game by him. He needs to play more when healthy. Gives Howie a chance to rest from time to time.

I might be the minority, but I thought Smith played better. He seems to second guess himself at times and is obviously hurting his game. He's skated much better I thought, though.

I come in peace. Congrats on getting the 2nd point.

But, I do have to ask, you guys aren't normally as bad as you were tonight, are you? Or did the Sharks bad play just bring out the worst in you guys?

Those first 2 periods were awful on both sides.

Game # "too many" of Abdelkader and Cleary negating Datsyuk's impact on the game.

We are bad on the road. We were the best team on the road in 2009, last season and this season so far we have a losing record on the road.

Voted Gus, Kronner, Ericsson. Great game by the monster and I think our Swedish defencemen complement each other really nicely.

Agreed on Smith, I think he's slowly getting more comfortable out there. Good active stick tonight and he was getting involved in the attack more, which is a real positive.

Brunner looked good too, kept his feet moving, made a nice backcheck and had a couple of chances. And of course got us the two points. Tatar is still hustling out there too, that 3rd line with Andersson and Eaves is solid.

Lashoff seems much better as a 5-6 guy as well :)

Negatives: One or both of Abby or Cleary needs to get off the second line. Neither brings anything remotely resembling offence, and both made glaring defensive errors last night. I'm pretty sure Dats doesn't trust them either, he's trying to do it all himself right now. I'm fine with Cleary as a PP specialist playing limited minutes but he simply isn't a top six forward. (Yeah, I know I'm preaching to the choir here).

Franzen wasn't great either.

Gustavsson looked solid in goal
Eaves had his best game since he has come back. besides the goal he looked good
Defense is getting better
Still don't get the line pairings for Pav
Franzen is barely visible out there
Love Tootoo's energy and Tatar's energy
Brunner looks like a legit goal scorer

These past 2 games we've seen more solid play from our d, save a few errors, but we've been burying the puck and just couldn't finish these past 2. The first I thought we controlled the tempo, it's just a matter of consistency with this team. The Thornton, Havlat, Couture line was giving us fits, definitely an elite line there. I thought Gus was a huge part of this win. He made some amazing saves(Thornton w/o his stick), plays the puck so our d don't get buried, and puts rebounds to the corners. We weren't getting on the 2nd chances like we have been, but I'm sure back to backs on the west coast/a little jet lag didn't help, along with missing 2 top 6 wingers and our 3rd line center...

Cleary would have had 3 goals if he wasn't stuck with a useless center who never passed him the puck.

Not quite that bad, no.

Up front, however, Detroit is still missing Mikael Samuelsson (broken finger), Todd Bertuzzi (back), Darren Helm (back) and Valtteri Filppula (shoulder)
